My immediate thought, without having thought about it for hours, which feels sound to me:
Deletions requests by authors should be honored by relays. What happens to the notes on relays is IMO mostly to be decided by the authors.
My client having already fetched notes from relays, that's now _my_ collection of notes. Nobody has any right to interfere with this collection on my machine. Not the relay, not the author, only I decide what I keep there.
The client should show that a note was deleted by the author but still let me keep it. If I want to decide to locally delete deleted notes, or not to show them, I should be able to configure my client to behave like this.
The issue with XMPP based messenging will be: XMPP needs servers just like email does. So the authorities will just eventually force bigger XMPP server hosters to either (A) implement "some way to achieve chat control features" (which seems rather impossible protocol wise) or (B) shut down. So they might just have to shut down.
Might push people to mostly serverless messengers such as https://briarproject.org or https://tox.chat.
Or maybe since they cannot easily force shut down of email servers, people will use Delta Chat, which uses emails? Email providers wouldn't like this though.
Forgot to mention Jami (https://jami.net) which is also p2p.

Idea, low priority feature suggestion for nostr:npub189j8y280mhezlp98ecmdzydn0r8970g4hpqpx3u9tcztynywfczqqr3tg8 nostr:npub1acg6thl5psv62405rljzkj8spesceyfz2c32udakc2ak0dmvfeyse9p35c:
the recoll #desktopsearch engine is IMO a totally awesome/underrated (even though the UI/UX is admittedly not sufficiently polished) tool for people who want to search for stuff on their local machine/network.
If there were a plugin/filter (for recoll indexing the gossip database), one could use the powerful search capabilities of recoll to find nostr notes stored locally by gossip.
As written above, it's just an idea. Might not work well, because the gossip db changes constantly rendering the recoll index obsolete. Not sure.
Aside:
I just like the whole concept of being able to search every bit of text on my computer from this one search tool. Which is why I tweaked recoll and my podcast application gPodder so that the podcast episode descriptions are stored in the metadata of each episode audio file which is then indexed and thus searchable by recoll.
I apologize, I reread my comment and realized it's much too harsh.
I guess I'm not ready yet to appreciate the religious aspect of all this.
Thank you for making the video and for adding the originals.
My current view of the question of human evil is mostly covered by my understanding of the expression "banality of evil" by Hannah Arendt.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eichmann_in_Jerusalem#Banality_of_evil
Rather off-topic: I often wonder what interesting insights into human psychology the tech giants have already deducted from all the collected data, without the public and general science knowing about it.
For example: interconnections between certain diets and behavior, or the collective hormonal cycles of dense urban populations, or diagnosing all kinds of non-psychological diseases just from online behavior data points
The criticism is valid.
Overlaying all this with a too loud music track though, totally annoying.
My belief since 2022 has been that the political decision for defending Ukraine's territory through sacrificing hundreds of thousands of men (instead of giving up some territory) never had a majority in the Ukranian population.
It the belief were true, there should come a point when there is a broad movement of disobedience, where people everywhere refuse to continue to defend .. why is it taking so long?
Maybe I've been wrong.
Die würden also schon in ganz schön geringem Abstand herum schwirren, quasi überall.
Initially there might well be a lag due to people doubting official advice/information. But as soon as mortality stats go through the roof for everyone to see, I'd assume people will rapidly adapt their behavior.
Many people competing for the same jobs drives wages down. More than half of households are dual-income households.† This increases the labor pool, which drives down prices.
Ironically, it would seem that, if more families switched to one parent being the primary breadwinner, it would drive up the cost of labor and make single-income households a more sustainable proposition for more families.
The knock-on benefits from the additional time and attention the now stay-at-home or part-time working parents could give their children would have a generationally positive impact on well-being and prosperity.

Wild take: reducing the individual work hours to 20 a week would also make labor more scarce and thus force wages up up.
Sure, having many people work relatively few hours per person is significantly less efficient than fewer people working long hours but as with everything, there's also a tradeoff: efficiency vs xyz.

That's your PoW there 🤪 .. apparently tiktok works as a centralized platform should .. shadowbanning and all
Sam Harris because he mostly dismissed the lab leak narrative back then?
He's probably just pretending to not be worried, fishing for intelligent AI sceptics to give their scary explanations how it can likely go wrong.
Forgot part of a sentence:
> IMO the people who're arguing: "But there's no (easy) way for governments to enforce/seize."
... are making a weak point.
Because citizens don't want to be doing illegal stuff ..
> .. they won't bother with Plebs ..
What makes you think that?
Outlawing Bitcoin holdings for regular citizens would be a heavy blow and IMO massively set back adoption.
IMO the people who're arguing: "But there's no (easy) way for governments to enforce/seize."
Regular citizens usually don't want to be doing illegal stuff, regardless of how easy it is for the government to enforce.
Just making it illegal - even if they can't immediately identify all violations - will give them a legal lever on everyone who might sometime later be identified.
I think regular citizens are not only important in this issue, they're key. My current view is that Bitcoin only has a chance if regular citizens have (enough) Bitcoin and will thus vote against 6012 policies/politicians.
Do other nostr clients embed youtube links so the title/preview is shown?
My client does not so it's just the link without any info. I'd rather have a title and not have to click some random link to find out.
