Yes, is all text. Voice is instant, so better for most high priority things (rescues, equipment on/off, etc.), In some cases, like ours, text works fill the gaps or dead zones. In a larger operations it could keep comms channels open for higher priority things at a minimum. I do like the ability to have subchannels that groups can talk outside of the main channel.

Going to be testing them some with search and rescue soon to see if they'll fill any needs. Carrying small card deck devices into the bush to hang in trees to setup a mesh network is easier than bringing large radio repeaters and batteries into the bush or top of hills. Has some potential to fill some gaps in comms at least.

Nice thing is it's just like a texting app on the phone, so pretty much anyone can figure it out. Connect to your node via Bluetooth and you're good to go.

Yeah the other handheld radios (voice) would only go straight down the shaft, they didnt work once you we stepped out of the shaft opening. The mesh allows the signal to be sent to all devices connected to the mesh network. We actually did see some decent mesh signal even when not light of sight. (bouncing signal I'd guess?).

Picked up a new bass guitar for a great price a bit ago. Found it at Long & Maquade on the way back from Punk in Drublic. Been wanting Sterling StingRay for a long time, decided to go for it. Wish I had done it a long time ago.

Absolutely loving it! Plays so well and the tone is beautiful. It's a matte black color which I really like. I'm sure Nostriches will approve of the burst color. πŸ™‚

nostr:npub1nxy4qpqnld6kmpphjykvx2lqwvxmuxluddwjamm4nc29ds3elyzsm5avr7 Thank you so much for the subscription reminder and grace period. I'm an idiot and forgot to renew before travelling. Renewed now. πŸ˜‰ Just curious, any plans for 2 or 5 GB packages? Might be a cheaper way to entice people who aren't meme machines into your great service.

Thought it was all configured in the splits? Was there a change in how NA would split the zaps or was this just if it was a bday zap? Was thinking a bday zap for next show. πŸ™‚

On Android: Amythyst, Primal

Desktop: Nostrudle, Primal, Snort (when it works), zap.cooking, zap.stream, fountain.fm.

Nostr really is a protcol, so this question will eventually be silly if every website starts using it.

Some photos from our Northern adventures last week. #outdoors #travel #canada

Hey, I get this reference, for once. Are people having fun making music again? Seems like there has been a bit of shift in the last while.

I really need to try out the torrent feature...

Using Meshtastic devices the past two days at work. Communicating down a 120' vertical shaft and then down a corridor at the bottom. Solid concrete everywhere.

Using T-Beam Supremes and a Heltec v3 (it has no issues on the shaft either).

Radio comms don't work unless we're standing at the top and bottom of the shaft. The mesh allows us to even slightly communicate around corners since Bluetooth will go ~50'.

Very awesome! Now just need a intrinsically safe (explosive atmospheres) version of something like the T-Echo for when working around gas.

Thanks to the awesomeness of Nostr, I don't have to add this video to some stupid website's watch later cue. I can just download it, watch it later and even keep it forever. Thanks for sharing.

Bank security practices are so byzantine and broken it's absurd. I spent 45 minutes helping my mom unlock her Chase account today (which was locked because she sent $500 via zelle to a friend who is in the hospital!) Here's how it went:

- Locked for no reason

- Number on website goes to automated answering machine

- It asks for her debit card number (what?) to identify the account

- This is lost and also needs to be replaced. There is no alternative method, 0 doesn't get us to a person

- I call Chase customer service, different number, very similar system, but I am able to get a person on the phone

- They verify her identity by making me hand the phone to my mom and ask her to state her name (what). They also ask for her ssn and a security phrase she doesn't know, although she does manage to share the security phrase for her other bank.

- They re-order the debit card and transfer us to another department, where we do the whole verification charade again

- They send a 2fa code via sms. We receive it, but the site shows an error and won't let us put the code in.

- They then send a different code, and ask me to give it to them over the phone, which the text message explicitly says not to do.

- Despite my better judgment I gave them the number. They then do something on the backend, and I enter a *new* code they gave me over the phone into the web portal to get it unblocked.

It's no wonder old people get scammed! Force someone to deal with this BS for 20 years and anyone would get confused and give the wrong code to the wrong person.

Um... so don't they have 2FA to some part of the account now?

Some of the questions and procedures in modern customer service don't give me a secure feeling.

Great episode! I like the concise updates on important topics. Listened to the episode right away but had to top up my wallet to boost.

Nice progress. Hoping to build more interest in my city. Today I was pleasantly surprised to find the next town over actually has a good network setup already. They even have a BBS server.

I'm kinda curious if people said they hated the CPS in the comments.
