I’d also give the ncaa career punt return edge to Mathieu…but those are clearly 2 of the best ncaa defensive backs of all time and arguing over their ncaa careers is truly an exercise in splitting hairs😂🫡

Tru dat…Ed Reed at the U was a beast… both he and mathieu are listed on ESPN’s top 25 players of the 21st century but Mathieu’s stats are based on a 2 year career compared to Reed’s 4 years…also Mathieu was a fumble causing and recovering beast (this was lacking in Reed’s incredible ncaa career)… both incredible players but imo Mathieu was the more versatile and explosive ncaa player… Ed Reed was bigger and translated better to nfl game although Mathieu despite numerous injuries (didn’t have the prototypical nfl body size) has been pretty solid

He was absolutely electric when he was at LSU…I’ve never seen a defensive player at any level with better instincts for attacking the football and creating turnovers….it was surreal to watch

Tru dat…injuries and a suspect attitude at times but he was a talented kid with a flair for incredible plays…kinda like Tyrann Mathieu on defense (another LSU boy)

Yup… I’m not sure how his style will translate to ncaa football… kinda like Nick Saban’s style didn’t translate well to the Dolphins in the nfl

Also recruiting to the ACC is not easy unless ur Clemson… of course with the rule changes re the transfer portal (in my opinion this was pretty much just trying to Saban proof the ncaa which had turned into Nick Saban’s (Alabama’s) private playground… I hate him cuz he left LSU but he’s clearly the GOAT🤷🏽‍♂️) and the NIL money players will be team hopping like their in 12 yo select/tournament baseball…and if anybody can figure out how to take advantage of that it’s prolly ol BillyBelichick😉

Bringing in Brian Kelly as our head coach has been a bit of a disaster so far😳… he’s not great with the players or coordinators and coaches and has been disastrous for our defense🤦🏽‍♂️… also his in game decision making has been pretty suspect 🤪

He does have one of the best portal classes in the ncaa for next year but we’ve had a lot of top rated talent during his 3 disappointing seasons so far… so we’ll see🤔
