Bitcoin in K-8 Ed is my Jam now…

Thank you madly, deeply, sincerely, from the bottom of my heart. A worldwide ragtag team of developers in both RSS & Nostr, with a touch of friendly competition 💜💛 have made a few of my dreams come true this week. To be paid for what I do and to play in a place so meaningful to the history of independent music makes every minute of this week even more special. We worked across technology platforms, across continents and oceans to make this week happen. And with some hustle and a lot of heart together we pulled off a Christmas miracle in Minneapolis. ✨ I don’t have visibility to JL’s Numbers (which will only make the story better!) but I wanted to share the results and to thank you all for letting me be a part of the story. I hope we can show the world how #bitcoin can change lives, disrupt industry and end artistic poverty.

See you soon 🧡 Ainsley

Thanks for a great show on so many levels!

Stoked I stumbled upon your gig! Really dug how you shared your story about how it all felt in the moment - honestly x 10. I can hear James Brown, Michael Jackson, Kravitz, and Prince all rolled up into something all you - well done and props to your bandmates!

Based on the current difficulty level of the network, the miner adds a “nonce”, basically an incremental counter for each guess they take, and hashes data from the prior block and the pending block transactions which yields a fixed size big number (total input could be one character or LOTS, that doesn’t matter). If that hash output number has enough leading zeros to satisfy the network difficulty level, they get to mine the block. Since hashing yields completely unpredictable outputs for every input, you just have to keep changing the nonce and see what happens.

The beauty is that once it works, is very simple to confirm you earned the right to mine the block with that nonce (guess).

Including the prior block’s hash in that calculation, links it to the new block so nothing can be altered in the past, because the hash would no longer verify if ANYTHING changed. Immutability is ensured and easy (ish) to verify.

The difficulty is adjusted every 2,016 blocks so that you need a hash result with more leading zeros if the average block finding time is less that 10 minutes and less leading zeros if the blocks are discovered in more that 10 minutes.

I’m pretty sure this is the idea HA…

Dude has mad heart right?

You're crushing it bro - for real - just channeling my inner Odell 😃

Ah, the gool ol days! Computer lab had 32 performa 520s and we had to install Office using the 36 floppy disks it came on then HA! The joy of discovering that you could make disk images and then just connect to the server and mount them all was so damn awesome - wonder if my e-world account is still active.....

Offered the first "Intro to Bitcoin" elective class to 7th and 8th grade kids at my school and we had ONE kid sign up - YES! - IT'S SO ON! 😂

With just one kid, I'm going full Snicker Bar for the opening "what is money" lesson where I see how much Fiat he'd take for it and then see if I can get him to take a pile of Monopoly money for it instead.

I'm probably a more die-hard Bitcoin maxi than people seem to think. I firmly believe Bitcoin will eventually have to replace all other money and forms of value settlement. If someone wants to buy anything, including silly or harmful things I don't like, in that world, the only good money will be Bitcoin. And with layers, we don't necessarily need to change the chain to do it. People are skeptical, and I can understand that, but that doesn't change my desire to want to make that the reality, nor do I regret all the sacrifices I've made towards it.

After a decade working in tech writing software professionally, I now take jobs where I'd have to work twice as hard for half the pay just so I can work in the industry and spend every productive hour I have towards thinking about Bitcoin and how to make it better. I've delayed purchases because coin was cheap and I'd rather have the coin. I've put myself through development hell building Carbonado because I wouldn't settle for compromises such as using Arweave.

This is the level of conviction the system of fiat and the shitcoiners are up against. And I know they have no chance, because I'm not the only one making sacrifices on this level to make this happen. I can't tell other people's stories, but mine is hardly the exception.

Bitcoin will win because millions risked it all and put their blood, sweat, and tears towards the most ambitious grassroots effort mankind has ever undertaken: Making it so Bitcoin can replace all the money. That won't guarantee it will, but if nobody cares and nobody puts in the work, there'll be no chance that it will.

We bitcoin because we believe in a brighter future, one filled with global egalitarianism and abundant energy, for generations to come. We, the bitcoiners, are all Satoshi.

Man this resonates! No other idea has changed my actual daily behavior more than Bitcoin - it’s not even close. It’s like a grass roots movement got started in my brain and now that shit rolling downhill gaining strength and speed. The sense of hope and purpose is such a gift - so stoked to be here for it.

Rolling to bitcoin country again - stoked 😀

Agreed - I really see parallels between fighting to keep my school district from dumping Macs in the early 90s to my trying to get them to let me start a bitcoin club now - the world just doesn't get it early and the fights for good never end - this easter egg was sooo cool...

Completely Unrelated: that album gif is too 😎 - dig it
