I think one of the main reasons why people give up on going to the gym so easily is because it's boring.
Lifting weights or doing cardio, just for the sake of it, is boring.
Yeah, you can distract yourself with a podcast, music, or videos (during cardio), but that's not sustainable, in my opinion and from my experience.
For people to be more physically active, they need to really enjoy the workout they engage in.
I used to spend >80% of my breaks at school playing football with my class mates.
The bell would barely get to ring and we were rushing for the door to spend as much of the break playing.
In highschool, I started playing rugby, and I would train 6 times per week, during the season, and play in a match on the 7th day.
But even outside the season, I would still attend the 5 training sessions per week.
In my early adult life, because of work, I had to resort to the gym, for working out.
Like I mentioned before, it is boring.
Now, in my early 30s, I joined a Muay Thai gym, after multiple attempts at sticking to working out in a gym or at home, and it's been one of the best decisions I've ever made.
Again, I feel that excitement, when thinking about going to train. But why?
Because I actually enjoy it and I find the sport very entertaining.
So, to get back to my initial point, people need to find a physical activity that they enjoy doing, and engage in it as much as they can, if they want to get or stay fit.
For some it could be:
- playing football or basketball with friends
- casual swimming outdoors or indoors pool
- dancing lessons
- kangoo jumps
- martial arts
- hiking
- kayaking or paddle boarding
- surfing
- skiing or snowboarding
- etc.
Whatever physical activity gets you excited to engage in, that's what you should do 🧡
Having that said, I can't wait to be done with my knee injury and get back in the gym and kick some pads, bags, and people 😄

That's actually really good
I've tried it, but I always wake up with my back hurting
That sounds realistic, but also not lol
Astrophotography is a great hobby to get into.
It can be quite pricey, but the satisfaction you get is insane
