MMT also presents taxation as a tool for managing inflation. By removing money from the economy, taxes help control excess demand and reduce the risk of an overheated economy. When inflation rises, taxation can reduce the amount of money in circulation, thereby cooling economic activity.
While I’m not a proponent of MMT and see it as akin to communism with additional steps, I do encourage those curious about how our current monetary system operates to explore MMT. It’s a fascinating.
