Mixing the too makes things too complicated. Even on a personal level, it's hard to figure out your own priorities and expectations.

No easy answers.

The more you reinforce a system based on theft, the more it steals from you, divides you, and then controls you.

From that system, war is inevitable because it is a requirement that you believe it is someone else’s fault to retain its power over you.

With the chaos from the existing system bound to expand over the next number of years, it will be easy to get pulled back in.

The more you reinforce a system based on truth, the faster the world changes to hope and abundance. We are early, but our actions matter more than we realize. Every node (we) matters.

nostr is still mainly used alongside twitter. in the best rare case, as a replacement. and only because people are running away from something about twitter they don't like.

there is nothing that people want to run to nostr for yet. zaps were promising, but bitcoin is still a hurdle (one that primal is doing the best at overcoming), and it's doubtful lightning could scale to a massive adoption moment.

nostr needs a feature or experience that's unique and sets it apart. i *think* that is the ecosystem of microapps over the long term...but it's definitely not in the short term. and that might be ok.

for twitter the initial draw was the simplicity and weirdness of 140 characters (we started with zero network effect, facebook had it all...that's built over time). later it became the conversation which lead to the "public square" (owned by a private corporation ¯\_(ツ)_/¯). and then as it grew, it had a single point of control/failure people could attack.

nostr doesn't have to worry about that last bit. it's an incredible feature. but not one the average person cares about (no matter how much they yell "FREE SPEECH!"...if people actually cared about free speech, bitcoin and nostr would be all they used...they don't).

all this to say, we're not doomed. but what we think is the killer feature isn't right now. who's going to discover the one that is?

Iran just sent drones at Israel, currently en route, so multiple countries in the region are closing airspace, announcing states of emergency, preparing airspace defense systems, etc.

Most financial markets are closed, so crypto is basically the only place with liquidity for the market to express its view on whether this will result in serious damage and geopolitical escalation.

Bitcoin sharply down from $66k to $62k on the headlines, most other cryptos down more. Paxos Gold (a gold-backed stablecoin) had a huge spike from $2400 to $3000 but it is coming down now. Leveraged liquidations can distort the initial magnitude here.

Sad day; hopefully calmer minds prevail and de-escalate.

noone can, since everyone is getting paid by opensats, including me. ten31 is invested in primal and strike. it’s pretty ingenious and prevents anyone from saying anything or else you may not get your nostr grant, at least that is the perception even if its true or not. Odell has called me personally and said there’s no way he would have of conflict of interest, but it’s literally impossible to not have a conflict of interest here. Odell is a great guy and I’m inclined to trust him, but the whole situation feels wrong and is causing a chilling effect.

Today is one year since I discovered #nostr. What a difference a year makes! I’m grateful for the friendships, the community and the networks that have been built 🙏

GN. Beside Lume as main project, I have thought about what project I will work on this year, as side project.

I've a lot of ideas, but finally I choose I will build a successor of Silk Road and Open Bazaar. Because the first time I hear about Bitcoin is when I looking for buying some illegal stuff in those platform, but I just a teenager so I cannot buy any bitcoin 🥲, I also starting interested in coding at this time.

Sadly both of them are discontinued, so I will make it happen again.

Technically, I still brainstorm about backend, based on NIP-15 or Civkit or both. About Civkit, they not finalized yet, but it look promising.
