"Freedom of speech is being able to tell someone else something they don't want to hear." "No matter what you say, someone is going to be offended." "Once you realize that politicians are not altruistic, and that they're in politics for themselves and their own personal gain, then everything makes sense." "No one is above the law." "Have you ever met a poor politician?"

Looks like it hung installing ruby...but was installing on a RPi 3 I had up (which wasn't running a full Ubuntu)....may give it another run to see if I can get past that...

There is no normal--

Normal is defined by others, and if you feel compelled to be judged by others, then you are subject to that normal.

BUT if you don't care about what others think of you, then that normal doesn't matter -- it doesn't exist -- and it has not power over you.

I'd like to keep the most recent posts in a column on the left, even when I'm reading a post (this is Primal desktop).

RIght now, when I click on a post, that pane changes to "People in this Note" - and that's not helpful--I end up constantly clicking back to recent posts.

In orther words, save me some clicks by making navigation easier! 😃

Various tools mostly...(I'm kind of a tool junkie 😃 )

EVERYONE should have one of these - using cash should be something everyone is doing to assist with privacy.

I know it's tough--going out with friends to a restaurant will still get funny looks when I pay in cash (but most have gotten used to me doing it).

Yes, it's fiat, but *anything* you can do to help preserve your privace is imporant - and that includes paying with cash.

(Off my soapbox...)

This looks interesting...wish it was published as a distro so that you could just grab the image and boot it from a USB...but still probably worth a peek...

Thanks for sharing!

Looking forward to today - have some items that are due to be delivered to the house that I've had on order for a while...and then I can move forward on some projects! 😃

Going to be a beautiful day as well (if a bit on the warm side)

Right now though, it's coffee time!

IMHO non-KYC is an illusion--it's simply not possible to have anonymity with BTC in an AI world...might not be there quite yet, but soon it will be.

So the best way to get started is to flash a USB stick with Linux, and then boot to it from your Windows machine. Leaves your windows untouched and safe, and lets you use/learn Linux as well (with a bit of a modest performance tradeoff as you're running the OS from USB).

Here's one guide (there are many out there):

https://www.linuxfordevices.com/tutorials/linux/install-full-linux-os-usb

I prefer Linux Mint for this kind of thing--it's closest to Windows in look and feel...

(And you may have to look up the proper keys to boot from USB for your particular computer and BIOS - it's usually F12)

Agree 100%, and yet they still IMHO present a significant danger...

Just like virus research, AI is being created without really understanding the risks (or perhaps better stated "ignoring the risks").

It's that arrogance that gave us COVID, and that same hubris is quite evident in the AI field.

Recklessly chasing profit margins is not compatible with maintaining safety margins...

Same thing with Bighorn Sheep - their ability to defy gravity is simply astonishing.

Every animal has developed a defense mechanism against predators--but the ability to out climb them I find fascinating.

Why would you assume that?

Seems clear to me that a) humans process information, and use what they already know to make assumptions on new situations b) AI does *exactly* the same...

Therefore...

I think this one is serious. AI is really not something we should be racing to develop...prudence and caution are warranted.

"Just because you can doesn't mean you should...."

If we experienced time bilinearly would today be "PMUH" day?
