Was considering this very question the other day and I think I'd probably prefer to be persecuted by a monarch than by a majority of voters anyway.
It's an interesting dynamic - eg US military invented Tor, iirc, and I remember reading something the maintainers wrote about how they kept getting these incredibly subtle bug reports which they thought were from intel.

Yes a major reason I just use nostr is that x is just so manic, as you say..
..but I feel that might just the natural result of having millions of humans able to argue and be shits to each other - and that when nostr succeeds it will be the same
I guess the hope is we can have our own algos that actively promote peaceful engagement.

Betfair seems to imply that yes there is a non-trivial chance that a republican other than trump wins. Some other stuff to entangle I guess but on the face of it this is consistent with successful assassination risk...

Talking to a normie friend about Ukraine. He basically accepts US are after war with Russia, because the government is a war machine since ww2 which simply can't stop, and unlike Iraq etc this time we can't just win, and Ukraine is being ruthlessly used as a puppet etc, but he still supports UK missiles attacking targets in Russia.
I think he just wants to be told what to do.
