The thing is, unless you make an effort to cultivate your feed, that would be your experience.
To the casual observer, nostr is a fail. Similar vibes to bitcoin.
Those that are most in need or who take the time to dive deeper, get it.
My advice to nostr tourists is to find #[2] & then go through his follow list to pick up a starting signal. Pick & choose those who you want to hear from.

I now check Twitter less frequently than I check the bitcoin price (about twice a day). This has been a pretty organic process for me & took about a month. Feels good.
I don't know how bad Twitter is right now. All I know is that I'm seeing more & more people I care about shine their light towards nostr. A lot of npubs that were created on the fly & then went dormant.

It's the slowest shipwreck I've seen. When is it too late to buy bitcoin or establish a reputation on a decentralised communication network?
Either way, it's much easier & safer to do these things when there aren't hoards clambering for the exit like crabs in a bucket.

It firstly couldn't have happened without acceptance of cryptographic key pairs for identification & authentication. That's pretty much Bitcoin's win for making it widely accepted.
Lightning enables instant online micro payments though, which is also super important & removes the need for a new web 3 token.
