I empathize with this take, but at the same time, it misunderstands the nature of reality.
Every person who behaves immorally weakens themselves, every single time.
Also, this person "merely" discovered that evil exists.
I suppose some people will not have the chance, but some people will have the chance to interact with, to meet real evil. Many are under the illusion that people are good, and some are. But there are people who truly are evil, because they made that selection, and some evil aim down to hell itself.
While grief at this realization, that truly evil people exist who intend to steal, kill, and destroy other people, is understandable it is also an opportunity to pay attention to God and realize that God, who is Goodness, is the center of the universe and not evil and that all of the universe in some spiritual sense is sliding relentlessly towards Him, towards the Light, and the inevitability of the removal of all evil and darkness, lies and destruction, sickness and disease, pain and suffering, and all things being made new is coming and no one can stop it, not even the devil himself nor the entire fiat complex.
God, hope and life are relentlessly coming.

When he replies, "No, you didn't..." that's an implicit articulation of the lie, "I know best" which is one of the beliefs a person holds when they struggle with pride or arrogance, which is akin to or overlaps closely with the belief, "I am God."
At the same time, he's also implicitly accusing you of lying to him about having not told him for ten years about Bitcoin, even though you did, which means he doesn't trust you. But since you are trustworthy, it means he had fundamental trust issues with himself and/or others that he's projecting into you which likely trace back to family of origin issues with his father or someone close to him who violated his trust, which means he had unresolved personal issues he needs to sort out.
Healthy and functional people choose through humility to trust certain trustworthy people more than they trust themselves . But that you've hung out at least one hundred times over the last ten years, but he still doesn't trust you seemingly, speaks to the kind of relationship he has with you which indicates he's likely a taker, not a giver or reciprocator in the relationship.
In addition, if he literally can't remember you telling him about Bitcoin, it indicates memory impairment which could point to a pot addiction, since pot can impair the memory.
Or, he's literally just really, really stupid.

True, at least I would hope so. It's interesting to hear some people with kids talk about the world they are leaving to them. I've been planning to have kids for a very long time, and a huge reason I write books is so that my kids and descendants will know me and learn the hard won lessons I've sussed out over my decades of adventures. My wife and I are expecting our first baby this September.
