Not sure one should throw the baby out with the bath water here. We need rules in some shape or form or society can degenerate easily. Separation of money and state should be sufficient to return morality to the legal institutions. Obviously we need to fix the parasitic nature of statute laws and regulations etc that fuel lawyer immorality but some of that should go with money separation too.
Recommend try #introductions. Many nostriches follow it to welcome new users.
Welcome!
Spaceballs. Not Star Wars. Zap… use the Schwartz!
Considering the slow boring normality of the last 5, there’s a chance
Welcome. Follow and engage. I know there’s no algos to nudge you!
Point well taken. There’s so much emotional manipulation am sure many don’t even realise. Excuse unfair characterisation or wording, been a long time since I experienced centralised social media and watching some friends use it, does end up seeming a little addictive on feeling of engagement. Not really the same thing
Come for the dopamine, stay for the authenticity. Not quite sure lack of retention amongst attention seekers is too much of a cause for concern. They’ll return after learning themselves a little more. We all have our pace
If the state uses inflation to make the population the patsy for cancellation of its debts, is it correct to regard the nation as having a functional legal system? Surely one of the fundamental bases of a legal system is to uphold contractual obligations! 🤔
Think am done with seeing about $TRUMP. Found my medicine
Love Nostr. Replied on wrong link. Think emulating chap I saw yesterday maybe correct approach as well. I think there's more intelligence being demonstrated here than many other places right now! https://video.nostr.build/fa39f02c844d12e116af7473798146ca401732b9288daf7cb72c3dd2f135334a.mp4
Saw this guy yesterday. I reckon he's taking the correct approach right now. Emulate!

Boss move for any bitcoiners who decided to play the Trump pump n dump shitcoin script would be to sell to btc and donate half the profits to open sats. In fact, if this degeneracy continues, be nice to see some good traders (you know, the 0.00000000000132% of people who try) do just that!
Go for a camping trip. Middle of nowhere. Give it a good week or 2
Trying to imagine Roman masons keeping up with modern speed of history 🤔
So Guatemalan riads.... But then I realised, it's not just Guatemala. You just notice it more here. I asked the locals why so many speed bumps? Cause the mitorbikes and cars don't slow down in towns.
That's true but it's not the reason for their placement. The true reason is as soon as a road is built, the people build the town around the road so it's slowing down transport.
Net result: more accidents, more noise, less good sleep, pollution causing health impact , increased vehicle wear, constant jarring of lower back, increased fuel use, and obviously massive impact on trade as all journey times here are double what they should be.
But it really isn't just Guatemala. Why not adjacent to road with entrances to settlements? Are humans just inherently short sighted?
Not sure the capitalism image correct. Should be feudalism
Bitcoiner mentality. Sitting down drinking an afternoon coffee at the edge of the lake in front of a sign warning of dangerous wildlife. In the background, what should be the platform to go out and enjoy sunset which, along with the fire pit out of frame in the photo, is very much under water.
Only thought that came to mind was “what an amazing metaphor for current state of the Fiat system”
Some thoughts on Guatemala visit.
I did a road trip. South with Antigua and Atitlan main goals. Then drove around the sierras and eventually up north to Semuc Champey and eventually up to Tikal.
Unless you have a long time, do either north or south. Journey times are long and frustratingly stop/start.
Antigua and the volcanoes are a phenomenal experience and if you enjoy beer, go to Cerveceria 14 for live music in the evening and keep eye out for eruptions in the background. Steak houses definitely worth eating at but there’s also some excellent local food. Enjoy it, outside of the touristy areas, food quality isn’t that great and carnivore diet is commonly old boot diet.
Atitlan is an amazing lake with wonderful scenery. Tendency for people to go to San Pedro or San Marcos. They’re kinda ok to meet people but slightly fake spiritualism and over selling by street vendors. Still definitely worth visiting but if looking for magnificent views, I found the other side of the lake more spectacular.
The drive. Hmm what to say. Stunning scenery but feels like driving through a landfill. The entire country needs a dedicated clean up campaign. Then there’s the road system which I’ll comment on in another post.
Semuc Champey is a beautiful area. Make sure to research place to stay. There’s some pretty ropey options. Good rule of thumb is probably to just ask if they have hot water. Seemed to be a good rule of thumb. Spent 2 days there but consider the area worth while for a full week of exploring the rivers, caves and karst scenery.
Flores and Tikal i will definitely visit again. But worth just flying straight in on a domestic flight and hiring car there. Between the national park hikes, Mayan ruins, stunning lake and places to visit, this area is a full vacation in itself.
The people here have all been really friendly and welcoming and had zero issues. One thing I did find odd coming from Costa Rica is it feels dead. There just doesn’t seem to be much wildlife. Had to wait to Tikal area too see anything but the spider monkeys around the temples were a treat!
