Living the farm to table lifestyle dream in Southeastern, SC.

Someone called it the year of the horse, but nostr:nprofile1qqsd2d8986cf2mjtnt7cjxajlqcejupsnu2zqz55tx6nf2p78xq2mtcpzemhxue69uhksefwwfjkcctev93xcefwdaexwqgewaehxw309aex2mrp0yhxgetnwpjhycfwwdcxzcm9f6ca2z claims it’s the year of the cow 🐄#eatmorebeef #foodstr

Sometimes you gotta grow your own luck 🥬📈🤞 #HNY26 #gardenstr #farmtotable

My #coffeechain mug choice when I see four more days of rain in the forecast at the farm 🥲… I think my daily combo of dry winter clothes and shoes weigh more than I do. I’m tired yall 😮‍💨. Considering hibernation bc #fuckthisshit.

Happy Friday ☕️🥶💦

Sunday restock 🐐🥛🧼

Got lots done on the homestead this weekend!

-Cleaned up some debris from a fallen tree in the #goatstr pen and burned a big ol’ brush pile. Lots of good firewood still there for later this winter though 🪵!

-We made a big dent in our serving tray order. That’s what the dogs were helping with yesterday. We’re gonna get that delivered to the retail store Black Friday am. So that’s what we’ll be doing in the PM’s this week.

-Got some waterfowl wings cut this afternoon. Muscovys are really great flyers and we hate to cut their wings, but to avoid them flying off and coming home with clutches of 30 ducklings, it has to be done. We also do it out of respect for our neighbors since they’ll go as far as their property and roost around their home. Had to cut the heritage turkeys’ wings too. The barnyard mix breed ducks are too fat to fly.

-Restocked the goats milk soap supply. Went with orange & ceadarwood scent this time.

-Enjoyed a sermon by The Church of Eleven22 and found a cool Christian marriage advent program that’s also #ennegram based. I’m excited to start that in December! We’ve been having a lot of fun with that “woo woo” stuff lately.

The little black dog is a rescue. We can only assume she is a mix of mini poodle and Maltese. A ‘malti-poo’.

And the larger is an Australian Cattle Dog. Also called a Blue Heeler. The ‘blue’ is his coat color and heeler describes his ‘line of work’.

T - 2 months until we’re filling freezers!! Down here the decent meat processors close intake for cattle until deer season is done. Its finish fed until then. Feed your angus how you want, I like mine with a little fat.

We’ve got a warm front coming and nothing makes me happier ☺️!! We’ll be back in the 80’s today. Probably for the last time this year so #catchmeoutside with Buddy the #goatstr. Who acts exactly like Buddy the elf.

No #coffeechain bc of course he knocked it over.

See you soon! 😋

-signed a sucker for a sweet treat #foodstr

Here in South East, USA we’re having a ‘mast year’ of acorn production! Lots of ppl in our community come together and collect the excess to take to wildlife rehabilitators 🐿️ and pork farmers 🐷. Right now, I could probably fill 3 5gallon buckets from just the three trees in my front yard. I’ll collect mine later for my ducks and goats.

Well I now I see, sry lol 🤦‍♀️🇯🇵

It’s gonna be a beautiful day here and we have lots to do on the homestead! My husband’s sh*t college football team plays later, so we’ll stop for that around lunch. My husband hates when I leave the doors open (bc of country bugs 🕷️), but it’s his compromise since later I’ll pretend to like football.

I’m off my coffee kick lately. This season makes me crave hot chocolate. But I’ve been having to supplement some caffeine so through out the rest of the am I do this tea. I’m excited to look for a brews one to try tomorrow when we’re out running errands. #coffeechain #teatime

Fun farm fact:

Our little Maggie has doggy diabetes. She was diagnosed when she was pulled from the shelter. It’s probably what landed her there. I volunteered through the rescue who pulled her, to work with her getting her bg#s regulated and to help train her with the lifestyle changes (lots of needle pricks 😖). She is doing amazing y’all! After getting so close with her, I could never give her up!! Despite the fact I SWORE I’d NEVER own a doodle (sry nostr:nprofile1qqsyzjgg89a0yejqy3cy9knljshujvvr0jxe6vs8ufcuktajh0v6fmgprfmhxue69uhhw6r9v96zu6rpwpc8jarpwejhym3wvdhsz9mhwden5te0wfjkccte9ekkzar50938xtnvdakqhjc5wk 🤣🥲🫣🤭). I assume, based on her behavior, she was likely the tiny accomplice of some old soul who just indulged her in too much “human” food? We live the type of lifestyle that she can really thrive in, but I could easily see how this diagnosis would be debilitating in some households. My heart really goes out to the humans this diagnosis affects. That’s just considering the schedule commitment (strict 12hr test/feed/inject, everyday, forever). We are able keep her on a strict test, feed, & insulin regulation. Turns out I also thrive on that strict schedule. We can also easily control what treats she has access to. And we keep her moving.

Moral of the story is though; if you’ve contributed to your diagnosis turns out you can just do stuff & turn that sh*t around…

Here’s your invitation:

Put good in, get good out.

You are what you eat.

Use it or lose it.
