I keep thinking that merchants who give a “BTC discount” of a few percentage points would start to move things. But I can’t control that. But that got me thinking- for every person that’s using Venmo to send me $20 for this or that- it’s those people that I can offer a BTC discount to. Or, I owe someone $30, but I could offer to send $35 to them using Strike or River… Granted, most won’t be ready to send or receive yet, but it might spark a curiosity. Like why would I take $18 in BTC equivalent vs the $20? Also, think of the mindset shift for that person who thinks it’s “too expensive “ to buy BTC now, but if their friend wants to “give them some…. It hits differently. Honestly, I’d give up a couple of bucks per orange/purple pill to my network of real-life friends if that was what did it for them. Again, think about what each of us can do ourselves- and make the future we want to see.
We see it too. A red area becoming more and more “blue” as people move in- but to talk to them, you’d think they came to the area BECAUSE it’s red. It’s like they think the D they vote for in our area couldn’t be as crazy as some of those ones from deep blue areas. I know the vote counts are illegitimate in our area as well- but still, it shouldn’t even be close.
I know what you mean. I bought an item through a social media platform market. When I picked it up, I felt the woman’s sadness. I could have just taken the item and left, but I couldn’t. Her husband has dementia, he’s hurting himself, they can’t afford caregivers or to move… there is real despair out there. Trust your senses, and realize just showing you care for someone and will listen might be more than anyone else does for them all day.

Merchant accepting BTC is a great positive sign. It’s too bad the product isn’t for you. But still a win. Just curious, did they offer a discount for BTC? I really think that (like a “cash discount”) will help people choose BTC payments.
Ah, yeah- it makes sense that most zaps would come in pretty early, before the post is too far down in a chronological feed. Hopefully as adoption increases, that kind of demonstration bears more fruit.
Mine are old enough to get it- like middle school/high school age. I know they can’t really get their own exchange accounts yet, but I can have demo cold cards and a few bucks for them to practice with, knowing that I’ll give it to them fully at some point anyways.
I like the idea of having the heir having a cold storage signing device, with at least some funds. Get them comfortable with it, even if it’s not the inheritance amount yet. I think the instructions or will execution will make much more sense to them then with a little investment now.
I feel like there’s a weird feeling around 36-48 hours, but once you get past that, it actually gets easier. For me, one four day fast is “easier” than two 2-day ones. But you can do it- keep up the good work!
