All of my major platforms and services are so inundated with spam now that they are becoming worthless.

I get flooded with spam phone calls now. I literally get 10 before noon every single day. To the point that I just don’t answer my phone and it’s permanently on silent or I can’t even record the podcast. Thus, the very tool I use to stay in touch with people has become increasingly non viable for that very purpose.

Seriously, how do we fix this shit. It’s fucking astonishingly bad

No. But that doesn't mean lightning can't scale or that we will find a trade off that is actually palatable for most people and not offensive to the most hardcore Bitcoiners...

You know, the type where people might say, I'll prefer to do X but for those who aren't as savvy, at least Y won't rug them.

Expect the same or higher FUD on lightning as you have seen on #Bitcoin layer 1. Ie - Follow the money!!

As more people realize how attacking Bitcoin first layer only made it more decentralized and secure, it makes perfect sense that capturing the 2nd layer also moves into focus.

Imagine telling people that Lightning will not scale when it has grown ~ 20,000 % over the last couple of years. It IS scaling and becoming easier to use as companies building on it (like Breez) solve problems that bring on the masses.

Other scaling solutions like Fedimint, integrate and scale further.

Super exciting times in as the builders - build.

Yes, still things to work on but saying lightning is dead, is akin to saying Bitcoin was dead for the last 14 years.

Ps - on a personal note, I use it every day (as many of you do on Nostr) and it seems to be “scaling” just fine.

Dumb me was trying to generate a vanity onion for 'sommerfeld' since in my mind that was just 8 chars and should be no challenge for a ryzen with 16 threads.

It's not 8 chars, it's fucking 10. Which means something that should take 9 hours, would take about 1 whole year!
