This is a twitter marketing thing. They invented that and in this question live all centralization problems. Believe me, it is more important how reactions or interactions you have on your events than how many followers are following you
I whould like a nostr client that do not show "followers" of user. It is not important. It is most important reactions. likes, zaps and interactions in general.
I rode some devs speaking about how difficult is calculating "how many followers this user has" to show you nicely on profile when you visit it. I think this number is relative and not important by the way, clients need to download a lot of data and do a lot of math calculations to show you not accurate followers number.

Why clients devs are working on oldie tricky marketing things? I think nostr has more possibilities than old classic marketing.
OK. Why clients edit my profile? This is not fair. My relay list is incrusted on my profile, client should accept my options. That is unfair. I will check what clients do this tricky thing and ban them on my browser.
They are working on "how many followers this account has" and that is not very usefull.
