oh! who are you taking it with? How has it been? (Taking a PDC is on my wishlist...)
Tsk, tsk, Derek. Don't you know that there are only two teams in the world and the only purpose of expressing an opinion is to demonstrate to those around you which team you're on? The fact that everyone - and especially poor folks - are particularly hurt by inflation is completely irrelevant.
This fellow seems to be pretty deep into Obsidian and looks at some of its functionality

GM, Maria!
I'm sitting by our woodstove with a mug of local raw milk and getting excited about the day.
.. or, for all of our sakes, a nice slow ocean liner
Do you know about Obsidian? I only use it on desktop but I think they have an iOS app as well.
You can use it for simple note-taking but it allows links between your notes so that ideas don't get siloed into folders. It's the ultimate "let your ideas have sex" app because of how you can keep finding connections between them. For instance, you can easily apply a framing in one subject to a problem in another e.g. applying permaculture principles to a particular economic issue AND to a favorite philosopher quote AND to a parenting challenge - without copying the the permaculture notes or moving them.
People have developed a ton of fun ways to use it (one of the only reasons I still use YT!).
I think I saw that there might be a Nostr app that's similar but I haven't looked into it yet.
Also you keep your notes on your device rather than on an Obsidian server (last I looked).
I’m blown away. In the last 15 minutes on Nostr -

oooh!!!! 🥰
Congratulations to you both.
There's nothing better 💕
Wow - that's really gorgeous. My husband stopped what he was doing to come over and listen with me 💕
Such beautiful pictures!
also, I'm so glad to see your rabbit tractor. We got ours with the rabbits (someone was selling her full set up). It's great but very heavy! Looks like yours is mostly pvc and chicken wire? Is it a metal roof?
Bach definitely rules!
I used to love Brahms and then suddenly something shifted a few years ago, and started finding him kind of saccharine. (I'm sorry to say it! I've loved playing Brahms - and I still recognize it as great music - but I just don't enjoy listening to it as much as I used to.)
Mozart, Beethoven, Bach - don't think I'll ever get tired of them.
I sat down today after Nostrasia with nostr:npub1lelkh3hhxw9hdwlcpk6q9t0xt9f7yze0y0nxazvzqjmre3p98x3sthkvyz to talk about his needs as a creator and entrepreneur.
I will build the best possible product I can to make him and amazing creators like him very happy.
It won’t be about censorship-resistance, or about nostr or bitcoin.
It will leverage these as tools. As building constructs that fade into the background.
It will be about Max and the people the product serves.
Time to get serious.
Yes! this sounds wonderful.
Thank you 🙏
so pretty!
Best wishes for the procedures!
Yes, depressing.
I think it's really the question of scale that's a problem. The current system is set up to subsidize the mega corporations that use the products of that extractive agriculture. As you say, they have no incentives to preserve the soil or work regeneratively.
But, yes, there is so much that we know now that we can put to use! Many of us are doing what we can, and it's a movement that's gaining traction.
Yes, I imagine so.
And my impression is that much of the Middle East used to be much more fertile - but I could be wrong!
Certainly in the US, we're doing a number on the soil by growing corn, grain and soy in the way that we do. I remember hearing that the biggest export of the US - by weight - is topsoil.
Yes, for sure - different crops and animals are suited to different ecosystems.
From what I know, most of the regions that historically have been great for grain - so many beautiful fertile river valleys - are now barren or going in that direction. So, yes, successful in the short term but usually devastating in the long term.
My guess is that there are ways to grow grains at scale that don't destroy the soil - rotating fields, using them for ruminants in the off seasons so that you replenish the fertility? - but we (humans) have tended to approach large-scale agriculture as an extraction.
