Violinist and teacher, building a homestead on raw land in between lessons and concerts. Fascinated by how we can develop resilience in our lives, in our families, in our communities. I'm excited about freedom tech and circular economies, and am deeply grateful for the devs and advocates who are helping build tools for a better future.

Great protocol. I never quite got it going 100%, but some of the basics stuck with me.

Finish trim in this 20ft tiny house is done!

For the most part, all the trim in the tiny house is made from various kinds of wood, all reclaimed and custom made. It was a much bigger undertaking than I expected (of course) but what I learned from the experience was incredibly valuable. The more experience I built the faster I got when it came to the finish carpentry. At first, when I didn't know what I was doing, I felt the need to make everything perfect while giving myself no room for error even though I was learning. Ironically, as I learned more, I felt much more comfortable allowing more room for error. Similar to how everything is trade offs when it comes to Bitcoin, I've realized the tradeoffs on perfection with finish carpentry. The 80/20 rule rings true as ever in this instance, 80 percent of the result comes quickly but the real decision comes down to how much time is it worth spending achieving the final 20 percent. It's becoming clear that now that I've built up the skill to get the first 80 percent done quickly, that the diminishing returns on time spent on the final 20 percent just doesn't add up. I've learned to be comfortable with imperfection just so I can actually cross the finish line. A valuable lesson that took over 7 years to learn on this project. Yeehaw!

it looks great! Nice to see your observations about the process

I'm glad to see them protesting for sure, and there's a lot of screwy stuff in the net zero agenda, obviously (e.g. culling cattle because "cows cause climate change" 😖).

But my impression is that some of what they're protesting is a proposed drop in subsidies and restrictions on some nasty pesticide and fertilizer use (I think!! I'm not positive and haven't looked too deeply into it).

In the US, dropping agricultural subsidies would be painful in the short term but would lead to all kinds of net wins. In Europe, I think there are smaller farms on average and I can see the argument that if you're going to subsidize everything from healthcare to education, then farming should be on the list as well.

I will eventually join the carnivore cult, sooner, rather than later.

Yes!! do it.

I'm about six weeks in, and the cool thing is that within a few days it's very easy. My energy is still up and down - I have some sleep hygiene stuff to work on - but the carb cravings were gone almost immediately. My husband can munch on some of my old favorite snacks - dried mango, chocolate - right in front of me and it's just not an issue.

Keep us posted!

(Side note about this particular video: I have a few students with serious mental illness issues. Knowing that their brains would likely be much happier running on ketones but not being able to do anything about that is incredibly frustrating 😢)

"Bi-partisan" means bad news.

Our neighbor is tearing down his barn and we're getting all the wood! Oak beams, some cedar and locust. We weren't planning on making the barn our next building project, but with all this material practically falling into our laps, looks like we will be bumping it up in the schedule.
