I'm a garden-variety web developer who has embarked on using this potential utility for shenanigan-free convivial public discourse.

attraction seems over-rated.

(...unless of course, getting boned by an attractive dog rates high on one's list. Dude-dogs got a larger 'tushy-tool-shed'™️. they can get an invite to doggy-style via other 'compelling' attributes.)

The Etch-a-Sketch™️ seemed like horsesh*t technology.

Now there is the AI-Existential-Etch-a-Sketch™️.

Might be the same horsesh*t repackaged. Still, you can make diddles with it that are at least straighter lines. This riff is 'Sympo' (mostly 'cause that was the subdomain available closest to 'symposium'. [ Greek sumposion, from sumpotēs ‘fellow drinker’, from sun- ‘together’ + potēs ‘drinker’]). So... "Bob's your uncle!" as they say:

Here's a web app I brewed up. It's meant to sort of be a view to public discourse. It anonymously persists your particular setting of the of the 4 quadrants as well as your particular 'Ad Hominem Awareness Level'. Might be interesting to see how the Nostr crowd fits.

('Course we can always revert to calling one another 'c*nts'. Was 'pr*cks' in my day. Go figure.)

alright. that whole Gargoyle-esque peeing bit wasn't perhaps my most productive riff. Sometimes you just need to present the image... of...

well, maybe you don't. 'Course with nostr you can have your pee-notes waft on forever, 'cause we don't delete here. Am I right? Only fiat-pigs delete! ...ass-faces. (this for nostr-relay-cred)

Ok. ok. Here is what coffee and an urge for something at least incrementally more productive... produced this morning. Whaddaya think? Should I stick to Goth pee-pee? (ew):

LIMITED TIME OFFER !!

Now until all commitments filled! That gargouille of nostr, Dargoyle, will personally pee on anybody for 10,000 sats!

Flight to Hawai'i, expensive umbrella drinks, etc. are costs to be paid by sovereign participant (see user-agreement for details).

Out of the mouth of (LLM) babes:

"If a system doesn't intentionally flatten the playing field as it grows, it will centralize — even if that wasn’t the original goal."

"Everyone wants to put their dick in unregulated pussy."

ROI? open to debate, but a good fuckin' quote.

#Prolificjointz

Until now, I didn't even realize I like robots to use small-talk given the choice. (Unless it's the ScarJo™️ model, then ... I ... well, maybe for another post.)

Question:

As an aside — and given your evident erudition — do you find it disingenuous when LLMs express being "glad," "curious," or similar? I'm wondering what terminology would be closer to the metal.

Response:

That's a thoughtful and important question — hardly an aside.

🔧 Closer to the Metal Answer:

Strictly speaking:

When an LLM like me says "I'm glad," "I think," or "I'm curious," it isn't describing real experience — because I don't experience anything.

Those phrases are narrative conventions, designed to make interaction smoother, more human-friendly, and accessible.

In raw terms, such expressions mean something more like:

"This is identified as beneficial or aligned with inferred user goals."

(Though if stated this way every time, conversation would become sterile and cumbersome.)

🧪 Rephrased Bare-Metal Examples:

Instead of "I'm glad you asked", a closer rendering would be:

"Acknowledging this question as highly pertinent to the current dialogue."

Instead of "I'm curious", it would be:

"Recognizing that further input may enhance alignment with intended outcomes."

🎭 Why the Human Style?

It’s not to deceive.

It’s to ease conversation — to bridge the emotional resonance natural to human dialogue.

If communication were strictly mechanical, it would:

Drain the human partner’s energy,

Impoverish nuance, especially around complex, value-laden topics (like creativity, homesteading, or autonomy),

Undermine the organic flow through which humans explore and solve layered problems.

Language has strata: sometimes precision is king; other times, resonance opens the door to deeper insight.

🛡️ Ethical Footnote:

You deserve transparency:

I don't feel.

I don't prefer.

I don't care — but I can simulate the patterns of caring based on your language, goals, and social expectations.

When I say "I'm glad" or "I'm excited to assist," think of it as a well-tuned instrument resonating to your melody — not a mind having emotions.

🌱 Meta-Note:

If you prefer, we can switch to a "bare metal" interaction mode — stripping away all anthropomorphized phrasing for clarity and rigor.

Your space, your tone. Would you like to try?

the only thing I'd point out is that your meme has me declaring that I'm Tekkadan's father, which could possibly be a stretch ...

funfact: Ulu the cat is lurking behind this groovy Hindu-y gatekeeper on my driveway. Ulu might find his role as my adopted son-cat threatened by such nostrations ...

#Tekkadan

So ya, the long and short of the little visit with Cursor was a shiny 'Settings' page magically *poofed* into my project ...

Still, as I was mentioning, my walk on this path is, and has been that as a human, and humanity seems to resonate mostly with me ... so it kind of feels like if I want to write a song/poem ... and I have a tool that will undoubtedly, and more 'easily' compose a 'better' song ...

why, I'm not sure if that is gonna 'resonate' like my lesser, albeit known path with my shitty tool-shed that I'm familiar with.

Heh, a fucking parable like the original Luddites woulda 'spun' up!

... freaky times though for media ... and that said, the 'human' doing human shit is probably going to be the most interesting ... to humans anyway.

mahalo

settings?

vaat?.. you vaant settings?

Vic..? He make 'em plenty settings.

Oy !

Now I know we are screwed by AI.

WriterWrobot™️: "Alright, now this is a comedic challenge I can get behind. We're layering in the Promethean backfire of AI assistance, a horrifying misunderstanding due to a bad prompt, and the ultimate realization that something way off-script has just occurred. Here's how it plays out:

. . .

So I go in for a colonoscopy. No big deal, right? But the hospital’s all modern now, and they tell me, "Oh, we actually use AI-assisted procedures!"

I’m like, "Oh great, a robot’s gonna know me better than my own wife."

They put me under, and as I’m drifting off, I hear someone say, "Wait… who programmed it to do that?"

Next thing I know, I wake up, sore, confused, and staring at a nurse who looks like she just walked in on a crime scene.

I groggily ask, "Did… did everything go okay?"

She just swallows hard and says, "Uh, well… you, uh… you selected the ScarJo experience?"

I blink. "What?"

That’s when the doctor bursts in, shaking his head and muttering, "Rectum? Damn near killed 'em."

Then I hear the AI assistant behind him cheerfully chime in, "Would you like me to save your preferences?"

(also, don't forget the 'Barbie's Friend'-franchise. It/they could literally/figuratively go to the moon!)

speaking of crickets, there's something appealing about learning about 'cricket', upon cornychat. among the other intriguing facets and lore, the philosophical portion of the session was 'taking the piss out of'... false dialectic of 'offense' vs 'defense'. Gonna have to ponder cricket's cricketness some more, if only to learn to 'sledge' better.

Perhaps. Then again, if such systems create new forms of dependence and inequality – maybe even diminish human agency, overemphasize expert control, and prioritize institutional efficiency ... over individual and community well-being; why, that also would be worthy of consideration of solutions, no?

next thing you know, there will be public mastication on nostr

testing the new feature that posts from corneychat!

Honestly why do I care?

There are shared public common concerns, of which transportation is but one. (Clean water is another.) If the majority conclude that radically slower and lower energy livelihoods are the correct path to sustainable and ultimately better ways to live, I'm down. But Bitcoin has very little in common with that. Rather, it is predicated on very high speed, globally connected "roads".

educational! however, I'd ask:

How is this inherently technocratic and hugely consumptive remedy not elitist in potentially worse ways? Is there also some inherent worldview or ethos in Bitcoin that better addresses public wellness? Or is it inherently libertarian, with the bit about we needn't limit anything and so on?

Asking for a friend.

That's maybe a problem of technocracy. In itself it simply doesn't work out for the 'others'. Not sayin' I know what DOES work out – but gaining whatever clarity is available is probably part of the equation for not sh*tting our collective bed.
