Something like bitcoin may have been inevitable in the sense of monetary progression. But if we don’t nurture/fight for it, Bitcoin could be lost/destroyed and it won’t come back.
Switzerland really looks like this. 
Are you referring to BlockFi? I personally lost 7 ETh in BlockFi. So at this point, a little more than $11,000 usd.
I bought the ETH when it was $80 per. I put my ETH along with 2.5 BTC in BlockFi to generate some yield. I was hoping to increase my BTC stack. I got my BTC out in time, but I didn’t get my ETH out. It is true that I invested in BlockFi in part on Peter’s voice and other influencers (Nic Carter, Dan Held, etc) But it was my choice.
If I knew one of the influencers personally and he looked me in the eye and said, “buy this” while knowing I would loose and he would win, it would be fraud.
But personally I think these guys are promoters doing their thing, not fraudsters.
As far as Peter goes…I don’t know if he willing deceived . Seems unlikely to me. He would have very little to gain and a lot to loose. I do admire that he is a builder. He creates things and I respect that.

I tried to update bank info and got stuck on this screen. I gave up on that instance and added a new payment method (same bank) and it worked. Then i deleted the problematic one. 
Bitcoin is different. It is an intangible manifestation or an inalienable right. It cannot be taken away.
I find it difficult to sort through the bip 300 discussion.
The proponents are obnoxious.
Given where things stand now, it is not obvious that drive chains are good. If you could rewind, they may have been an elegant solution to keep everyone “in house”, thought I doubt that. Seems like bitcoins sharp early rise was too appealing and other altcoins yearned for a similar zero to one.
Now that the cat is out of the bag. The reality of altcoins has led to key differentiators between bitcoin. I don’t see why it would be good to bring all altcoins back under the bitcoin tent.
I think Lopp warned against ossifying too early as btc could be frozen out of really useful functionality. This seems reasonable to consider.
It’s just that for me, bip 300 feels like a Trojan horse.
Depends on how you account for the downstream effects.
When I visited Egypt as a kid (7yo) you could climb on the pyramids. My brother and I have a cool picture :-)

Fair point. There are food scientists hard at work making processed food easier.
Welfare erodes agency. So easier is probably just about the only choice that can be made.
For me, the song juxtaposes work, taxation, and the governments use of tax dollars. Things aren’t adding up.
It doesn’t seem obvious to me that instituting drivechains will eliminate shitcoinery.
Some sketchy projects may piggyback on bitcoin for the halo effect.
Other projects will want to remain separate as a differentiator and to achieve zero to one success.
