I recently got an s23 and all the bundled software really is trash. I had a pixel 7 pro, but managed to make it unusable with a drop that landed just right to complete shatter and glitch the screen. I opted for the s23 because my local carrier doesn't have pixels and I wanted a smaller form factor again. There are things I really like about it, but all the "helpful" Samsung apps are not counted among thier number.

I'm in Alaska and just got an s9 for this purpose, although I'm going to be doing the full build myself.

I've got the bare s9 with new phantek T30s warming my feet now. Running at 750 watts and getting almost 10 TH/s (approx 79 W/Ths) it's about the same noise level as my previous heater and using less electricy so it's basically free sats.

I still need to swap out the psu fan, and then it will be even quieter.

And then 3D printing the case, assuming I can get my printer to do it right in less that 10 tries 😅

Yes I know you could, in theory start with nosta.me and then go enter your nsec into getalby, but then there's a back and forth, and if you start at alby your nip-05 and lighting address are already setup and you could skip or prefill all the info pulled in from alby.

getalby.com seem like a solid starting place if they do it on a desktop. I just did a quick test and it did a pretty fast account/masterkey/nsec/lighting wallet setup and has a page full of nostr clients. It lets you recover nsec and masterkey 12 word phrase via email. If it had a profile manager so you could setup you inital nostr profile I think it would be a really slick onboarding for new people.

Storing and displaying video really aren't the things that need to be solved for a tiktok like platform. That's enough for a youtube clone, but that's not what tiktok is. Tiktok is the AR video recorder/editor and the carefully manipulated algorithm. Being able to record yourself, manipulate your look and voice, record yourself over the audio of another persons video, dueting their video. Constantly creating new "challenges" or small random generator games like with the spinny things over your head to tell you what disney princess you are.

Even instagram and youtube's copycat formated videos are almost always made using tiktok.

And then the manipulated algorithm. I don't know how that would work on Nostr. That's just evil genius shit right there. It's kind of anti-nostr in every way.
