About time to recognize and embrace the fact that the Lightning Network has failed as a fast micropayments system.
On top of that, nostr integration (zaps) is slow and convoluted and hosting your own LNURL server a pain in the ass. I tried a few weeks ago and gave up.
Where did I move to? Custodial providers. Mutiny (with Fedimint - which then broke), Alby and npub.cash.
Custodial is the only realistic solution for pocket change amount of sats, so why not embrace that and make the best UX possible? The UX nostr:npub1l2vyh47mk2p0qlsku7hg0vn29faehy9hy34ygaclpn66ukqp3afqutajft just demoed is basically unbeatable.
It's not only good for me, it's good for all the new people we will onboard to this magic world of bitcoin and nostr π
It's our responsibility to keep incessantly educating about self-custody for larger amounts.
It's definitely on the frontier of the tradeoff options to me now as well. But not giving up on hopes of it being pushed further with new solutions.
Thinking about the sat streams:
- V4V for the creators is great
- But it would be also super cool if I can stream sats to my little cousin for listening to an audiobook or watching some documentary
Ecash locked to npub & conditioned on completing some chapters... π€
I donβt like how this created a top-level post from a boost comment, nostr:npub1unmftuzmkpdjxyj4en8r63cm34uuvjn9hnxqz3nz6fls7l5jzzfqtvd0j2.
Unexpected UX.
Would be nice to display deeper replies than just the first layer there to enable some back and forth without leaving the app.

- Ex. I can't see the response to Avi here
I just watched this Patreon founder's SXSW talk going through the evolution of the web from the point of view of a creator (could be applied to any social media user).

Pretty fascinating overview on how the true connections & discovery have been taking over by the attention sellers & thieves. And how he's finding the solution in designing tech products around the deep connections rather than the superficial attention
It's a great showcase on how to sell Nostr to people not caring about the censorship resistance. A must watch if you're working on social products on Nostr (ie anything on Nostr).

nostr:npub1klj98ahaaduuegwcd7lscjeqa0h2680f75r82gnr35pua8ls36xqh9t938 here you have the reason π«π
π Oh! That explains it.
Searching further, it seems that vast majority of the states have cancelled the ban by now.
Great opportunity for nostr to corner the market here π€
For some reason, currant (or gooseberry) is impossible to get in the US. They are missing out; Saw them growing it just once, around the lower Colorado.
I see your point, but look at it this way.
- You're going short fiat by making your family go long...
I'm eagerly awaiting for employers to start offering BTC DCA match instead of the 401k match.
Fiat math has some solid nominal savings

But comparing it against opportunity cost of stacking non-custodial BTC for the long-term... I can't see a Bitcoiner who wouldn't prefer the btc stack match even if ~50% smaller.
As you're pointing out, maybe better to setup something like that for your family/community endownment than waiting for the companies and regulators to start offering this.
bat-signal, but with a purple ostrich instead.
Imagine you're one of the big zombie companies on the Japanese zombie market, trading in yens, and you still not get it. π«£
On the other hand, given the average age of senior executives in these, and their attitudes towards taking risk or actually inovating, I wouldn't be surprised if it takes another epoch or more to even notice.
Polish MEP SΕawomir Mentzen is a proud hodler and owns more than 33 BTC since 2013-2014 #bitcoin

Sounds pretty unapologetic from what I can understand π
I'm curious what's the take on it from the women-protests aligned groups.
