The bad news, is early Twitter felt like this too. Eventually the trolls will show up. I think the good news though, is there’s no ad-model based incentive to stoke rage for engagement, which amplifies the dickishness.
There’s a lot of good examples. Tim Pool included. This is why I like Peter McCormack so much. He resists this. I resist it too, hence the thousands of followers I bled on Twitter over the past year, because I don’t tow any party line, other than what I happen to think is true — to hell with everyone else.
The clout drug is hard for most people to resist.
For those of us who have a platform, always be aware of the danger of audience capture. Are you neglecting to express doubts you have about some things, because you think you’ll lose followers, or people will lash out against you for going off-script? If so, you’ve been audience captured!

The thing is, as funny as it is that LA people can't cope with rain, there is the reality that because historically LA gets very little rain, the city's infrastructure is not necessarily up to the challenge of non-stop torrential rain. Hence all the flooding we're seeing right now.
