Nostr seems a lot less hostile. While Twitter rewards being a dick, it looks like being a dick on Nostr is embarrassing.

Liking it more and more. Other things:

- More engagement with 4k followers v 500k on Twitter

- Better responses

- Instant responses

#Nostr is forever.

Honeymoon period. How long will it last?

Also small accounts get better exposure and interaction with bigger accounts.

Same. #[4] was pretty much unreachable on twitter. Now he feels like #oneofus 👊👊

For example

Totally #[4]

🤝 🧡

Other social media is all noise

Give it time.

Better quality, for sure. Spend time accordingly.

I'm fairly convinced it has to do with the (lack of) algorithm. There's lots of good content, probably true on Twitter as well, but "engagement" is the criteria, so that means conflict, etc.

I'd much rather just see the feed as it comes in.

Also, I have always believed the character limit caused huge number of issues & conflicts. Yes, it makes you re-think and write more concisely, but some things just can't be written in one or two sentences, and any attempt to do so is going to invite hostility.

Most posts on nostr seem to be pretty short, but there's always the option to add a few extra words when clarification or nuance is needed.

Twitter conciseness conditioning will take time to wear off imo.

I agree

Hola Peter!

Ladies and gentlemen, we purple pulled him!!!

Value for value and no rage algos… much better

Also purple pilled*

Nostr is where the signal is at. It's different, because we all feel as if we're building in some capacity. We feel as if Nostr is *ours*. Every time a developer pushes an update or adds a new feature, we all win. We all feel the successes and it resonates with us. Plus, we also understand that your reputation is your identity.

Glad to hear it. For a pleb like me it’s zero engagement, just crickets, on Twitter vs a fun and interactive experience here.

Your Grayscale CEO interview was a banger. Now do the BlockFi CEO.

The bad news, is early Twitter felt like this too. Eventually the trolls will show up. I think the good news though, is there’s no ad-model based incentive to stoke rage for engagement, which amplifies the dickishness.

Trolls are def already here for some of the women of nostr, saw some ugliness that some have had to deal with. Community support is strong in the midst of it though.

Is there a name for this phenomenon? the one in which early adopters treat an online forum with respect for a honeymoon period before it gets trampled?

It do be facts

💯 healthier vibe, welcome 💜🤙🏼

Have you experienced zaps yet?

A protocol still without algos. We are so early that it's almost like we know everyone here. He have to appreciate this moment since probably will not last long when the masses will onboard. Yesterday we were on one of the first "space" with all devs talking together how to improve the protocol for the only purpose of benefiting the final user. #Value4value is a concept we understand here, and we should never forget.

This is Nostr Peter. Pura vida 🍀🫂💜☯️

I feel special...

responses are faster because we see posts from people we follow, instantly rather than having to sift through the 90% BS the Twitter algorithm thinks we wan to see ⚡

I get much better engagement on Nostr than on Twitter. I'm pretty sure half my Twitter followers are just bot accounts.

Delete Twitter

Each one is incredible on its own, but nostr + bitcoin/lightning = some kind of cool new baby being born.

💯 this, but let's see if nostr stays that way when more people than just the btc bubble is here.

I only use(d) Twitter to try to find news that I miss in other places. And, it's not that it's a good platform for that, but rather it was one of few options I'm aware that I can use for that without putting in a lot of work.

With Nostr, I'm trying to remember how to be social online. And, I have to admit, that's proving more difficult for me than I expected. While I was never much of a troll, I always expect anything on any social media to become somewhat confrontational. That's not the case here. I love it, but I have to adjust my expectations.

Its still the best place to follow independent journalists, until they find Nostr.

Agreed. However, I'm very much looking forward to the moment that they do find Nostr. It will completley eliminate my need to suffer through that cesspool.

It seems so far to be all Bitcoiners but hopefully that’ll change.

I can speak from the perspective of a pleb. Had to burn my old Twitter account in September 2021. In 17 months I'm up to 251 followers on Twitter.

I'm over 100 in a month on Nostr.

Love to see it

Bitcoiners are kind, generous and caring when people aren't trying to scam and exploit others.

Plus zaps!

The same way central banking corrupts money and everything around, big tech social media algorithms and censorship corrupts human behavior on such platforms. Nostr is immune to this same way bitcoin is immune to central banking. Viva la revolución!

British wit is based off of sarcasm and this often doesnt travel well online in pure text format. Id always assumed this was the cause of a lot of spats. Will be interesting to see if the algorithm has its hand on the scale

Smaller communities have more aligned individuals and more social accountability.

As things grow that may change on the universal feeds. But you could still have smaller subgroups with similar vibe.

Come and check mine out. ….

Bitcoin wasn’t the only crypto SATOSHI’s touched

Less people on the app = less dicks on the app.

I'd say the money powering Nostr commands a better human conduct as opposed that powering Twitter. Bitcoin is changing human conduct.

👍

Agree, I have stopped posting on Twitter and I just hang out here instead 💜

Agree. It’s also interesting to see that sometimes the same people will word the same post differently here. Almost as if on Twitter they write it already waiting for the animosity

It’s amazing what you can hear when you reduce the noise.

Since I’m a newbie that’s pretty nice to hear. Sadly I think most folks are right. Success and dicks go hand in hand. Success in one hand, a dick in the other? There’s a good joke there somewhere but I’m butchering it :)

Peter, you have been absolutely crushing the podcasts lately. 🙏🏼. Vocalizing the different perspectives is such a nice change. Not sure if there has been some behind-the-scenes change but it feels more honest.

That's a huge difference in engagement.

Let’s see how it holds

All the great things I see people say about Nostr sound like they’d go away the second it scaled and had the audience of Twitter. Hell is other people.

LOL. He said before abandoning nostr. This is a feature, not a bug.
