“The Guy who has read more about Bitcoin than anyone else you know.” Adjectives: Smart/Sexy Host of Bitcoin Audible 🎧

IMO, definitely no. Filtering in general is not spam and its impossible to have a conversation that isn't controlled/filtered. Imagine if there were no standards in your day to day conversation, imagine if you couldn't separate yourself from when those normal standards were thrown out the window by a complete stranger.

The question is about who is doing the blocking and is it for people who *don't* want to see it, or are you trying to stop people who are actively seeking out that information or account from getting it, and why?

Canceled mine just a bit ago because they removed the "top articles" feed

Of course. I average I think 3-4 books a month and still tons of podcasts even though its diminished due to a lot of the audio work I do

I have been really wondering the same thing & have been thinking on a combo of things recently:

• The global feed really works and distribution is solved by simply casting as wide a net as useful into the relay space and then aggregating what is found at each one.

• The simplicity. It doesn't have a specific focus, or brand, or audience, it simply gets notes and other stuff from user - to relay - to user. It exists and there was a hungry market for not being put in a box, I think.

• It isn't being sold to anyone (and thus there's no feeling of dependence or being surveilled by default), it feels more like it's something that we are part owners in (and operators of). No one wants to be sold on another fucking social media platform. But I was excited to explore #Nostr and become a part of it.

So maybe together this makes Nostr feel like a genuine chance at a solution that we can be a part of, rather than another website that moves the problem to a different place while having a drastically smaller network? 🤔

Over 20s years later the new AI tools are FINALLY realizing the true vision of Microsoft Clippy.

It's my birthday tomorrow and my wife asked me what I wanted:

I'm taking a full day to just devote to my bitcoin computers/devices and home mining setup downstairs. She and Rad are going to hang out and play downstairs in the concrete basement with me 😂👏🏻

I've found ChatGPT isn't that great to help troubleshooting specific software, but is pretty awesome to use for troubleshooting code.

With specific software I think too many things are arbitrary or human dependent like names of things, whether the editing tool is called "cut" or "split," and that sort of thing. It often just makes up effects or tool names that don't even exist. Which makes sense because its a general language AI not a software specific AI (which I actually hope/think will be a really big thing in the coming years)

Whereas the syntax/naming conventions/commands in code is not app specific, but is universal across the language. Therefore it has far less of a problem pulling together related and specifically applicable chunks of code in response.

Ah, that’s because there’s no such thing as “the group.” Everything that empowers “the group” at the expense of the individual, is merely something that harms one individual at the pleasure of another, while destroying the long term security of both.

How close to the end of the season are we? I’ve decided not to watch it until it’s all released.

I stayed away from Game of Thrones so long that i had decided to wait until it completely concluded because it was such a massive investment (I did watch a handful of episodes though)

… then the final season started to unfold and ratings were dropping and I was hearing people’s reviews and then the utter horror of the finale and how fucking garbage it was 😂😂

Was very happy I didn’t invest. It would’ve been another “The Last Jedi” for me except it stole like 80 hours from me instead of 4.

I’m hoping that Holepunch based apps explode soon as well. Need Keet mobile to start behaving like Keet desktop to kick it off I think 🤔

At this rate my entire iPhone is just going to be full of nothing but #Bitcoin, #Lightning & #Nostr apps…

Looks like I’ve got around 36 right now 😂

I don’t know who needs to hear this, but if you are a parent, *actively raise* your children. I’m a single mom, I understand all too well how exhausting it is to have to deliver on consequences when you set rules but you absolutely must do it or you teach your children that they will not be held accountable.

Do not tell your children to do anything “because you said so“ or you are raising sheep. Take the time to sit down and explain to them the concepts, the logic, the rationale behind why the rules are what they are and teach them how to consider and weigh the potential outcomes of their choices.

If your child is hyper, lacking in focus, or acting out: do not put them on lifelong meds to poison their bodies and sedate their minds because you are too tired to do the work to shape them. Examine where your own parenting, their nutrition, or mental well being need pivoting and DO THE WORK.

Do not leave it to the schools to raise them. Ask them DAILY what they learned and talked about at school that day so you can add your own context, altering view, or stance on that subject and why.

Raise your children for the world they will have, not the world you had or that exists today. Raise them to be contenders with a competitive edge. This means sheltering your child from the truth or certain topics is doing them a disservice. When they grow up, they will be in for a wake up call and they will be forced to learn skills as adults that they should have learned as children.

Teach your children how to handle losing. Teach your children how to handle bullies. Teach your children how to process these things without losing their self worth. Teach them how to have honor amongst thieves.

How many of us, once we became adults, spent years udoing broken models we were taught? Do not do this to your kids. Bitcoin doesn’t fix this: YOU DO.

the tenor link in the first one must not load on certain clients. Its not working for me on iris.to right now.

Not sure if its loading for you, but this is the gif you're *supposed* to see 😆

I feel like #bitcoin, #lightning, #nostr and the like have been a huge incentive for repurposing old computers & devices that would normally just get tossed out. 🤔

In case anybody outside the UK is unaware of this (which you almost certainly are, which is kind of the point) a journalist named Isabel Oakeshott signed an NDA with with Matt Hunt, who was the UK Health Security during early covid hysteria, to help him write a book, then breached the NDA and leaked ~100k WhatsApp messages to the press. The messages show - entirely unsurprisingly - that the UK government didn’t have a fucking clue what it was doing, then amidst all the lying and smearing to justify lockdowns, started lying and smearing to cover it all up as well.

Not that this in itself should be news to anybody, but two things stand out: i) there’s now undeniable proof in the public record of everything that has been a “conspiracy theory” for 3 years, and ii) the mainstream media is flat out embarrassing itself in a hilariously tone deaf way by giving precisely zero shits about the actual story and pretending that the “news” here is the breach of the NDA.

Absolutely nobody is buying it. It’s all very cathartic. Nature is healing ☺️

But seriously, for a less naive take consider that this all feeds into the increasingly undeniable realisation that state control of information dissemination was key to the catastrophe. The Muskificiation of twitter may be a very slight reprieve - and one that makes the regime shit itself much more than it really ought to because it has no idea how anything actually works - but if they understood nostr even a little the level of self-shitting would be off the charts 🙏

I wish I could zap the shit out of Isabel

What feels like the 100s of different times and different versions and environments and docker instances in which I have installed the same python packages still confound me to no end. And how often I try to do something only to realize the version in the current thing I’m working in isn’t the right one and then trying to understand how and at what layer I need to update or downgrade python or pip or whatever - just hurts my face 🤣🤣

Computers can be infuriating sometimes.

The one thing that has me hopeful is that because the establishment is so horribly woke, it is likely to make their AI products completely unworkable in the long term.

The open source alternatives that don't patronize the shit out of people will be useful in the real world and for real people, while centralized AI will only be useful to self-censoring woke morons.

Specifically something that was supposed to be a joke.

I think we have a clear winner here.

Don’t know the specifics here. What is NIP05 and how would I use it in this situation (Nostrgram is asking for NIP07 compatible)

I never have notifications on for literally anything social media related. Ever 🤣

Of course! Always happy to give feedback and my thoughts on the stuff I'm really excited about. 👏🏻
