Indeed. Many of the EU countries are watching what the UK does, as they still have in law that it's the parent's responsibility to provide their children with an education and to do it how they see fit. Many families are taking off travelling now and worldschooling their kids.

It's an interesting point you raise nevertheless about not losing knowledge and skills. I just raised it in my family and my teen immediately looked up the US Declaration of Independence and started reading it (he's not American though 😄). I've never "taught" him cursive tbf as he's unschooled and and he's in charge of his own learning. He's never been to school and has an insatiable desire for learning, as he's never had the curiosity, thirst for knowledge and love of learning knocked out of him.

If you want your kids to be able to read cursive just teach them yourself. Don't wait for school to teach your kids anything that's important and vital life skills. The whole point of school bis to have them be able to follow orders, be a good employee, do as their told, don't question.

I totally agree, school is government brainwashing, full of propaganda.

My understanding is, the fact that homeschooling is illegal in Germany goes way back to Hitler wanting to have control over young minds. The law has never been changed. I know many Germans and Swedes leaving their countries so they can home educated their children. I applaud them.

I know it's ridiculous. What curriculum would this be? The state school one that completely dumbs people down in pretty much all aspects. Besides, we have a gazillion fonts with all manner of styles, some I can hardly read 😆 but my gen Z can. The same kid who's never stepped foot in a school or followed any curriculum.

Plus peace of mind and generally more freedom. Release that baggage.
