I'm using the term clearnet to just mean traffic goes over internet without Tor.
If we are on the same page there, I don;t assign an IP in Mullvad. It allocates you one when you run it.
( That's different to Tailscale, which asks you to register on their webpage, and that allocates you an IP to access your node remotely. )
Also need to open port on router, and hash out the onlynet=onion in the bitcoin.conf file.
I have no idea. You seem further along than I am. We’re gonna need nostr:npub14cgq353exzmhdsvqjtmw4dq7fvyleuls8umyrvd5umhr4gtx6asq7hqjhl on this one.
I think Supermax and I talked about it a couple of days ago.
He hasn't tested it either. ( At time of talking. )
I'm just keeping my eyes out for anyone else that mentions Tailscale, and I pounce on the note to ask them lmaooo
I did my own self build node, and use Mullvad for clearnet access to peers. ( Very basic. bitcoin core, Tor, VPN and mempool. )
I tried Tailscale for remote access but it won't work unless I turn off my Mullvad.
Question: Is Tailscale a general VPN that would mask my IP for all traffic like Mullvad, or is it just for remote access?
I'm on the noob end of the spectrum.
I'm no economist, but I think the scenario playing out whereby the US shrinks +2%, and globally everyone else remains resilient, is unlikely.
This may be the thing or 'message' that makes the current inbumbents over there rethink their "find $1Trn in cuts" though lol.
I think you're right. I returned the sats for you 😉
Muchas gracias!

I have a thought that a non-insignificant amount of retail sellers are people who need money.
Not because they necessarily want to sell.
Credit card debt levels high, economy going sideways at best, people have bills to pay.
No idea on a percentage to put on it, but I do know a handful of shitcoiners IRL that have already sold all their bags ( some at a loss ) because they need the money.
These are all people that approached me about buying bitcoin periodically over last few years, then ignored my words, and piled into shitcoins when they start running up in prce. No patience, went all in ( with what little they had ) and then got squeezed out.
It is the same each cycle for me. "Should I buy bitcoin now?"
Me: "Yes, put some fiat in, set daily buys, walk away and forget about until next month when you put more money in"
They always come back to me with the same "I put it all into XRP"
Always XRP ( used to be ETH ), and they always last a few weeks. It's pathetic.
You could do Taproot Beer, too? lol
Mine would do that too. I'm UK based lmao.
I could change my bitcoin.conf file to have onlynet=onion in it, so it goes over Tor only, but I like having both.
I'm sure it will all come out in the wash eventually. I'm just a bit of a laggard perhaps.
Just had 100 sats drop. No zap notification.
Message in wallet is just a hash.
Where did that come from?
Not that I want to identify the sender - merely curious where it came from.

As a relative noob, if I deactivate Mullvad on my node, then switch to Tails, is that really masking my true IP address for bitcoin's clearnet peers, or is it just a 'tunnel' for remote access and the rest of the traffic is then exposed?
Talk to me like I'm 5 lol
I tried setting it up on my node for remote access.
Could only manage it if I turned off my standard VPN.
Gave up messing in the end
I remember watching a documentary where a computer was designed for people to 'converse' with.
People were fascinated with it, spending hours at a time telling it all their problems etc.
The thing is, all the computer did was relay your statements back to you as questions. So if you said you were sad, it would say "why are you sad?"
That stuck with me. Today the bots are annoying. Maybe the future is a sea of bots telling you what you want to hear - maybe they get so good they zap your notes, like your posts, or re-post lol.
Imagine a future where every human is silo'd off, and the only interaction is with AI bots or direct friends you have sought out. Perhaps you don't even know most people you talk to are AI.
A few months ago Hodgkinson was arguing with a 'roast' bot on Twitter. It was funny to watch, but it brought back these thoughts.
At the time it wasn't worth so much, and laziness made m write it off. Now and again I read something that reminds me of those sats hahaha.
( Like your comment. )
Long gone. I gave up playing with it and just let it all go. 😪
Dumb move of the decade lmao
I have 0.1 bitcoin on a lightning node that failed on me a few years ago.
Could never work out how to recover them, and the balance never showed in the on-chain address.
It's long gone now - wouldn't even know which addresses to check lol
I'm not going to go as far as say the cold war was all a lie, or faulty premise.
Certainly there was a risk that Communism was going to grow in influence post WW2, but I would agree or nod through the idea that the threat was 'fluffed up' to make sure the 'people' we on side.
Ironically that is what is missing now, and led us to here. The 'people' are not 'on board' with that premise.
I'm not saying it is right, wrong, irrelevant or anything in between.
I am merely saying the world has changed. The US has pulled back - they are shouting it loud and clear - we all need to listen and think about what that means.
I have no idea where it leads. I do know that before the US took on that role as global policeman, we all had to look out for our own trade routes, and project power.
I don't know what that world looks like if we revert there either.
