Institutions like the New York Times have an intense desire to be seen as neutral and rational in the eyes of people who at this point have no respect for them-- and this desire is so important that any harm that might come from legitimizing people who have eliminationist ideas just isn't as important.
It's a kind of affirmative action for conservative ideas only practiced by centrist liberals.

Don't think it's just about seeming smarter-- it's also about power. Climate change can only be effectively addressed through collective action. There are no individual solutions to climate change. There is no "I got mine, screw you." solution- this is very threatening to the current economic and political order.
Science is filled with dangerous ideas to other structures of power. Evolution, human sexuality... so many ideas that could ruin the racket now enjoyed by some.

This looks like the kind of kid who spend all their time talking to whatever adults will listen about their obsession with traffic light timing. And at first it's kinda cute and a little annoying, but then it gets really interesting because it turns out some of the light timing problems are related to graph theory.

The general notion floating around seems to be that "one simply could not" put a former president in a prison. Unthinkable!
But, I mean, would he be any any real exceptional danger when compared to other inmates? I don't think so.
Is there a way to force all involved to really explicitly articulate their reasons for special treatment should it be needed due to a conviction? It seems like a lot of classist BS to me.

Controlled substances are still a racket when they are legal. But this is NYC the damn taxis are a racket. I still support legalization because I think it’s made things less dangerous and tense and the gangs are going out of business. Do opioids next.
Watching the regulatory and retail jockeying for the ability to sell weed and vapes in NYC is so depressing. Everyone wants to collect the rent— a lot of small businesses owners (i mean real small businesses! like “I saved up from job at the fry shack”small) are basically doomed. They will never get a license because you need money and connections and like five people have the market cornered.
And all these trashy little shops can’t fall back on selling vapes now either. Seems intentional.
