Dude, Youtube is cracking down hard and it's insanely frustrating. My go to for YEARS for getting video and audio pulled from youtube in order to make clips, transcribe, use found footage, etc has just stopped working, It's all throwing back errors.

Legacy platforms are literally becoming hot garbage. This is all such bullshit.

As much as it pisses me off, it's at least a (albeit slow) self correcting mechanism. Because if i can't record or download stuff from Youtube... I literally will use it half as much, *at best.*

I use newpipe client on android, can download videos or just the audio at the resolution / kbps of choice. Newpipe stills works fine. On my desktop, i have no problems accessing youtube not loged in even with a vpn... im on linux and use brave browser

Holy shit, I think I just realized a direct and concrete way that I’ve personally experienced to how #Nostr completely changes the social incentives:

• Rage and hateful posts on Twitter get the most attention.

• Positive and happy posts on Nostr get the most zaps.

It really was just monetization all the time.

When attention is the currency, negativity and hate rise to the top because the platforms need people arguing.

When sats directly from peers are the currency, value rises to the top.

(Anyone else feel they’ve had this same experience?)

PSA 🚨- Don’t use Freefrom!

Somehow I’m getting a *ton* of spam about “Freeform” in my main feed, from a ton of nothing accounts that I don’t follow and have no reposts or likes from anyone I follow. Also doesn’t seem to have any hashtags I’ve chosen to follow. So I can’t understand why they would make it to my main feed.

Any idea how they snuck in? Did they manage to trick some relays or something? I’m on nostr:npub18m76awca3y37hkvuneavuw6pjj4525fw90necxmadrvjg0sdy6qsngq955 and they seem to be targeting Damus users. But I should only be able to see this in global.

Horrible strategy, imo. If they are legit, they’ve made me think it’s fucking spam trying to steal people’s nsec. Scammy advertising is a huge red flag 🚩

If they’re dumb enough to do that shit, don’t dare paste anything sensitive into that app until you know more about it.
