discord is like slack but for online communities
what exactly do they do?
that's malinformation
What are some good programming, tech, dev podcasts or channels to add to my media diet these days? Those have kind of fallen off my radar in the past few years and with a reduction in the consumption of other genres of content, I have some more mental real estate to listen to new stuff when.
Back in the day I think my playlists had stuff like Talk Python to Me, Shoptalk, Changelog, Syntax, and others I'm forgetting.
Bonus points if the intended audience is people who feel they are in the "desert of despair" ( https://medium[dot]com/startup-grind/adamhurwitz-escaping-the-desert-dd381b92080f ) but not obligatory.
It's fine if subject matter bounces from intro to intermediate to advanced stuff. Can be casual or hardcore. Just seems good to have more of it stream into my brain regardless.
Cheers

Really enjoying what nostr:nprofile1qqswhzptpwm9n0mjydgzpg9csnz20kqhuzhnjqm32umtz3sc3vwss6qpzpmhxue69uhkumewwd68ytnrwghszxthwden5te0wfjkccte9eekummjwsh8xmmrd9skctcpz4mhxue69uhhyetvv9ujuerpd46hxtnfduhs86vymj and co are doing at Jupiter Broadcasting. Especially Self-Hosted. They are tangental nostr and bitcoin enthusiasts as well.
So rather than an actual coin, you're just buying "merch" to support his campaign.
Define "support"?
Really good news: in Norway, the right to pay cash has been enshrined in law, as of Oct 1st. Retail will no longer be able to refuse cash for payments up to $2000.
Meanwhile, in other EU countries you're _prohibited_ from accepting that much cash!

Some places in Germany have stopped accepting cash due to break-ins. Meanwhile plenty of small shops and restaurants only accept cash. Very complicated.
Make it colder (that's actually what we say)
This debate will only be resolved when we stop using terms like "capitalism" and "socialism". Just tell me who points a gun at whom and in what situations (including for self defense).
sometimes those things escape from the shelves and run off somewhere. better to put it up higher
Kid: Dad today we learned in history class that back in 2009 you could still mine Bitcoin on a regular home computer and make 50 BTC for securing a block, why didn't you mine back then?
Dad: Hey Kiddo, this is how we got down in 2009, NFS > BTC

even in 2011 you could mine on a GPU.
#asknostr Anyone using #amythyst over #tor network having trouble with the Note Discovery feature? It seems to send out the request and then never get a response.
can this be used for recieving zaps?
It's called a bit coin because you'll only ever be able to afford a bit of one.
Could just use protobuf as a drop in alternative?
can't you do something like musig with schnorr quite easily?
I think the pumps are mostly caused by hype rather than actual market activity. The hype can be triggered by a lot of things. Market activity could cause the price to slowly reach a point where people notice and start a hypecycle.
