As homeschool parents, my wife and I have taken responsibility for educating our kids. The funny thing about teaching your kids Latin is that you first have to LEARN Latin.

Latin is a lot like #bitcoin because it requires proof of work. You trade time for knowledge. There are no shortcuts.

Aside from it being the genesis of the Romance languages (and a huge portion of English), there are lots of reasons to learn Latin. However, my top reasons are that it requires improving your pattern recognition, problem solving skills, and attention to detail. No sloppy thinking allowed.

What specific risks are you concerned with? I imagine it depends on whether you use Alby’s cloud service where they act as the LSP or if you run Alby Hub using your own LND node and managing your own liquidity. If it’s your own node and a channel is force closed, I think your Lightning balance moves to your on-chain LND node balance, less block fees. I believe the subscription based Alby cloud works similarly and from Ben’s video, it looks like you can backup a 12 words seed, so you’re not at risk of being rugged. I’m still learning the basics of node running on Lightning, so I don’t understand all the details on channel management or force closure causes yet. However, the nostr:npub1getal6ykt05fsz5nqu4uld09nfj3y3qxmv8crys4aeut53unfvlqr80nfm team is super helpful, so I’d recommend sending them a detailed question in a DM, or they may see this and respond here?

Heck yeah! After my Mutiny channel was forced closed several weeks ago, I haven’t been able to zap Nostr, and I was starting to feel like a blue check. But thanks to Alby Hub, my Start9, and BTC Sessions, I finally have my zaps back!

With Ben’s tutorial, Start9s OS, and Alby’s devs, this config was super easy to setup, self host, and run. You need to seriously consider this setup for self custody Lightning.
