Should also do away with omnibus bills. Military spending shouldn't be tied to the same vote as school lunch programs.

I would also prefer bill proposals to be anonomized. To be one step closer to voting based on merit, not which side proposed it.

"Staking them for profit"?

Where does the yield for that come from?

On other altcoins they can can at least debase the supply to pay yields. Makes even less sense here.

This seemed like a commercial FOR bitcoin.

"Bitcoin is based on distrust of human institutions"

- Exactly.

"Bitcoin fans may have good reasons to distrust banks and governments"

- Damn straight.

"Originally there was very little trust in institutions like banks and governments"

- Makes sense.

"It assumes that we shouldn't trust human institutions and shouldn't allow them to create money at will"

Right, because 'the history of fiat currencies is full of breaches of that trust' (Satoshi Nakamoto)

"Bitcoin is basically a return to gold"

- A return to hard money, yes.

"Electronic gold"

- Even better, I don't need to guard a vault, and I can carry it across borders in my head.

"But it doesn't change the fact that Bitcoin is based on distrust"

- You don't have to sell me on it, I am already all-in on bitcoin!

The only things he gets wrong is ...the conclusion haha. And that "the whole purpose of money is to create trust between strangers"

When the reality is the opposite.

As long as it isnt private information that you want to keep off the internet.

There is an audiobook, I listened to it. Not sure if it is on the "audible app" specifically but it was freely available audio book download from my local library.

Yeah, I didn't test that yet.

Just testing offline receiving to confirm that the sender couldn't pull back the funds if they got to internet first. (Which they could not. They couldn't claim the token to one of their own accounts since it was locked to the original recipient's public key).

I suppose if you knew that every Saturday you would pay the local rancher 100 sats for whatever, that you could make a stack of ready to go QR codes that ONLY that person could cash in.

You could print out a stack of QR codes that are like cash except locked to the recipient. (Who can melt them down and spend the sats anywhere they wanted) instead of locked to an establishment like a regular gift card.

Just verified myself.

Sender (my laptop) can't clawback the payment because I went out of my way to lock the ecash to the public key of the recipient (my phone).

My phone (offline) has a "later" button when receiving offline.

It shows up in my offline phone's transaction history when press the receive "later" button. But you can see at the time how much the ecash token is worth and the fact that it is locked to your public key (can't be redeemed by anyone else before you can get to WiFi).

Offline instantaneous receiving of sats that are tied to your public key. Amazing.

The stripes can look like stripes or full blown rorschach inkblot nightmare images.

Going with male, American Dog Tick. Off that one photo.

Male. 100%

2 parallel stripes, like "suspenders".

Since the settings tab already asks (optionally) for region, if we select Canada, could we also get the ability to view the balance in Canadian dollars instead of just USD? Many other wallet apps allow you to choose which local fiat to display.

It uses the nostr based "yelp" for ecash mints bitcoinmints.com

So it can give you ratings and reviews to help you decide which mint(s) you want to connect with. Now rather than go to that site separately, it looks like you can see the various mint ratings from within cashu.

This was a tough one! Had to go back through your posts quite a ways to find it. On the plus side while searching for the answer, found out you having a Rumble account that teaches ASL lessons in more depth. Very cool!

I second this message.

Go to https://f-droid.org/

...to download the f-droid apk manually.

Install that.

Then while f-droid has SOME FOSS apps you might use (like organic maps), definitely use it to get the Aurora Store and Obtainium.

Aurora Store will get you normie app store things like Fountain.fm (free sats for listening to podcasts). After you get used to Obtainium, it will be your go to. Can retrieve app apk's and manage updates (at your discretion) from F-droid and/or Github etc.

Did you make that?

And a followup, do you sell those?
