I ran into a problem with #QubesOS, found an existing ticket about it, diagnosed the problem, and likely am going to be able to get the ticket closed. At a minimum, I have a workaround for it. #ProofOfWork

We have this hosted through Vercel, and this is the first Iโve encountered this issue. Appreciate you bringing this to our attention nostr:npub16v82nr4xt62nlydtj0mtxr49r6enc5r0sl2f7cq2zwdw7q92j5gs8meqha , will look into this asap. ๐
Are others able to reproduce my results? I don't want to sound the alarm for nothing.
I did verify that I could load other sites in that same TorBrowser session, and it's unlikely an exit node would specifically block nostr.cooking, but it'd be good to have a sanity check.
A though for your consideration if you tell people to "buy bitcoin":
Tell them to "Earn bitcoin" instead
This subtle change:
- makes it feel simpler and more actionable
- largely avoids having to discuss KYC regulations
- makes bitcoin more widely accepted as currency
- shifts the focus away from bitcoin being nothing more than an investment whose purpose is to be sold for more fiat later
I head Apple iOS 18 was going to be the biggest update yet.
I can only presume they measure this by the number of gigabytes. ๐คฃ
Word. Even moreso for people who know the etymology of the word (which I suspect you do). ๐
Well. Dr. Hax is not impressed. nostr.cooking blocks Tor users so hard the web server just doesn't respond. I expected better from a site with "nostr" in the domain. For shame.
Food. We cook a fair amount of Indian food, so a year's harvest is not as much as a year's supply, but maybe that will change as we level up our growing skills.
Not yet. Fiat money has been tight lately and I want to get a stainless steel glove first (whivh also has not happened yet).
But I don't use the mandoline for processing turmeric. I use a grater instead.
I also made these today, from scratch of course. #ProofOfWork #foodstr

#Food made from mostly shelf stable ingredients (except butter, but we keep a supply in the freezer so it's not in short supply). #prepper #prepping #homestead #homesteading
Today I harested the turmeric and documented the process (with pics). I'll just have to add a couple pictures after it dries out and I grind it up.
I'll probably post a thread about it tomorrow. I'm exhausted. ๐ฎโ๐จ It's been a busy day, but a productive one. ๐ค
ICYMI, one of the things I did was plant some stevia.
Ever wonder why some USB cables suck and others work great? It turns out some of them are missing wires! Learn way more details than you will probably ever need in the video here:
Planted another one across the parking lot on the way out.

#ProofOfWork I know it'd be a lot easier to just sit at home and post links, but my goal isn't to win the contest, it's to reach new people and empower them to make an informed decision. More adoption means we all win.
What better place to tell people how to avoid the pain of inflation than at the grocery store?

These stickers feel like they're quality made too. Hopefully they will be able to stand up to the heat, cold and UV that they will be subjected to out there.
I'm also curious as to if someone will remove it, and if so, how long it'll be up if they do.
I was inspired by @tinker@infosec.exchange to experiment with indoor growing.

My abomination was made entirely from things I had around the house:
1. Wide mouth quart jar
2. 3D printed net cup
3. Dirt/compost (50/50)
4. Toilet paper to hold the dirt in
5. Compost tea
I was going to plant spinich, but I couldn't find the seeds, so I went with stevia. I'm going to wait and see how this goes before trying another plant.
Germination in 7-21 days
Sounds like it'll still be a baby plant at 3 months.

I'm not looking forward to the setup cost (time & effort), but it's going to be epic once it's in service.
And you know me, ig it's not epic enough, I'll get to coding and make it so.
Guess who is going to be sticking stuff to other stuff in the foreseeable future!

Yeah... potatoes and grains work a lot better if you don't have someone in the family who is diabetic. ๐
Lots of beans, eggs, and dehydrated veggies for those people.
I agree that is what is needed.
In fairness, it's really hard to stock that quantity of food and be able to live on it for that long. Any recipe that contains any milk or cheese gets real tough to make when all your dairy products are a month old.
"Discipline" is a good way to phrase it. Things like learning where you can use powdered milk and where it just doesn't work out right is time consuming. Finding alternatives takes a lot of effort and trial and error.
I've been collecting pantry recipies for years and I feel like I don't have enough. I guess at some point I'll have to get those into a format that I can easily share.
Even knowing how much of various ingredients to stock is complicated. How much active dry yeast do we use a month? I couldn't tell you. Would three jars be enough for 3 months? Probably ๐คทโโ๏ธ
We plan on moving to Grocy (open source, self hosted, recipe database and inventory management system) in the near future. That will make it trivial to answer questions of what we can make with things on hand, how much of each ingredient we need to last 3 months, and so forth. It's going to be awsome once it is all set up.
