hashtags are gay, I never liked them even when twitter first came out...might have to just get used to it, I guess

I really need to work on that tool I started for finding keywords posted by people so I can follow them. Feels a little glowy doing that sort of thing, though.

nostr talk about something other than bitcoin challenge: impossible

If anyone wants to spend a few months in Thailand here is a run down on the visa situation at the moment (August 2023).

On arrival you get a 30 day tourist visa. This used to be 45 but now it's 30.

You can extend this without leaving the country for another 30 days by visiting the local immigration office and filling some forms, paying 1900 BHT (55 USD) and waiting a few hours. They don't yet accept BTC but there is a BTC community here in Chiang Mai.

Now if you want to stay longer than 60 days then you have options.

If you want to stay up to 6 months then at the end of your 60 days after above extension you need to do a 'border run'.

You can do this by land or air and it's simply leaving Thailand briefly and returning to renew the visa.

If you go by land as many do when you re enter you get another 30 days and you can extend that another 30 as per above.

You can do a land border run twice per calendar year. So with the initial visa and two land border runs you could stay approx 6 months.

If you have used all your land border runs then you can get a flight and return to get another 60 days.

In theory you can do air border runs indefinitely but at some point it's possible thai immigration officials will tell you to stop or you may just get sick of it.

If you want to avoid all of this then you can apply for an education visa and study a few times a week in any language or even Muav Thai if that's your thing. You can renew this yearly at approx 50,000 BAHT or 1500 USD.

Ah, yes, go be a locust producing nothing while destroying their economy for as long as possible, nice

But hey, it's cheap!

Hello, testing

My relay situation is all kinds of retarded.

Once the IRS starts cracking down we'll see how much they really care about "freedom" or if that's just their mental gymnastics to play the stock market while trying to feel altruistic about it.

It's fun for the worshipers of mammon, because they get to feel rich without actually being rich. They get to convince themselves they're being selfless and helping the poor without actually lifting a finger, all the while they look at the almighty stock chart, drooling, under complete control of those little green and red bars, fantasizing about owning a mansion one day after producing nothing of value in the real world...All while they criticize today's rich of the very same thing.

Hypocrites.

My favorite conspiracy theory is the one where the government cares about its citizens and wants them to be happy and healthy.

A complete and utter lack of self-awareness. Hypocrites claim to hate greedy banks while being greedy themselves, focusing their entire energy on trying to buy low in hopes of making it big later, not producing anything of value.

You are the bankers and the merchants you hate, and you're too conceited to see it.

You people scream freedom all day while doing nothing more than looking at the value of bitcoin against the dollar you claim to hate so much. Bitcoin is nothing more than a fancy investment toy.

You can do it with a hacksaw, but it's going to be a nightmare to get a reasonable amount of them. It's a good starting point.

Usually people use a specialized machine, often powered by a regular drill, to coil and cut them all in the same spot. More advanced ones also collect the dust, which can be important for valuable metal like silver and to save your lungs.

Nostr users: "I really hate the banks! They're so greedy!"

Also Nostr users: "I'm HODLing so much Bitcoin, I'm going to be rich!"

hello mammon worshippers, how is your god doing today? are the numbers going up?

Oh hey, it's Nostr's favorite Bible verse!

No, you missed my point. God's people are not to worship money, PERIOD.

> Yes, I was to personally benefit economically from it, but that’s not the primary reason I support it

I don't believe this for one nanosecond. Everyone around here meditates on money and bitcoin the way an actual monk meditates on God. It's your entire world, you worship it and give it all your energy. Many use words like "salvation" or "enlightenment" or "cleansing" and try to pretend it's not their religion.

You act altruistic, but the greed is obvious. You are a whitewashed tomb whose god is mammon, distracted from the things of the true God.

Everyone marketing bitcoin claims it to be about freedom, but in reality, it's a fancy investment tool and nothing more. Then they sacrilegiously compare it to the divine while conveniently forgetting that God did not create us to be financiers but to care for the earth.

Paul taught Christians to work with their hands (1 Thess 4 11), because all the bankers, bureaucrats, merchants, rabbis, and other busybodies provided nothing useful to society. This tendency to do actual work saved many Romans as the Roman empire decayed and actually helped to reverse the trend of Christian persecution by Constantine's time.

And what do the people who peddle in bitcoin all day provide? You claim to be freeing people from governments but instead push their minds toward money for the sake of money, and a paltry amount at that: bitcoin's deflation ensures that those who already bought into the system years ago will always hold disproportionate control over those just now starting.

And you continue to "HODL" and encourage others to do the same, never actually producing anything, never actually building a parallel economy, only talking about how "valuable" it is, even to the point of heretically comparing its value with the Almighty God.

You think you have money, but in reality, money has you.

Appeal to faux authority.

How about you evaluate what I'm saying with your own brain instead of assuming the circlejerk of academia and investment bankers have it all figured out?

Bah. You're just like everyone else, incapable of critical thought, caught up in hype.

> I prefer to remain factual. I completely disagree. Bitcoin should no longer be associated with fiat at all

You "prefer to remain factual" but can't come to terms with the fact that bitcoin's value derives solely from its price on the stock market, and nobody in the real world, aside from a few novelty cases that you people like to tout nonstop, uses it for anything other than investment.

And another snide "I can't explain it but trust me bro!"

And then you appeal to the "price of bitcoin" once again without realizing that such a phrase makes so sense without bringing dollars into the picture for comparison (i.e., price of bitcoin in WHAT?).

Pathetic.
