I come to NOSTR every couple weeks to lurk on my favorite bitcoiners becuase its their feed that keeps me up to date.
This is indeed a very hard discussion to have as I too have a large degree of reapect for theae devs. I find it hard to believe that this update is being pushed with such communtiy backlash. But what rocks the foundation of my principles is being told that I dont have a say in a technical argument becuase im not a dev. I'd argue I sacrifice just as much as these developers who get subsidized by the community. They get to dictate what goes in our mempools while I miss my fathers birthday grinding 6 10s for a company that regards my artistic skill as a cog in their machine.

I wanted to take a moment and vent about the lack of human empathy in regard to Nautica Malone.
For those of you unaware; on January 11, 2025 a man drove through a Bikini Beans coffee shop in Tempe, Arizona, pantsless. He was recorded by a staff member inappropriately touching himself when he went through to get his coffee. Undoubtedly this wasn't his first exposure to staff members. Survived by his wife and one year old child, Nautica took his life shortly after his incident spread across social media platforms. This man may have justified his actions to himself but it doesn't overshadow that he may have been going through some mental illness or very dark times with his life. His embarrassment was so great he took away his life from his infant child and his parents who raised the man.
But the real mental illness resides in the meme culture revolving around human strife and suffering. When a society who sees a man commit suicide for embarrassing himself and his family, decides to capitalize on the event, you find yourself questioning the morality of most people using legacy media platforms. The term Goonicide arose from the fires of this event. Taken so far as to create a shitcoin pump scam called Goonicide coin. A man destroys his family and creates a void in his child's ability to know his father, yet people decide its a great time to pump and dump his life based of a meme trend?? This kid will forever go to school and be known as the goonicides baby and create a situation where they themselves might commit such a horrible act. It makes me suck to my stomach.
This is why I use NOSTR. Most people here have a soul. The content is creative and everyone is seemingly united to create a bloomscroll culture instead of doomscrolling. I'll end my rant here. I hope people can relate to my frustration in the matter. What Nautica did was wrong and should have been pursued with legal action. But the meme culture is much, much worse.
Great release! This might be a bug, but when using the golden theme the text to write a memo when topping up a wallet has the same font color as the background making it almost invisible. I love the theme though!
SSDs have a secret way to protect your data when they fail
Many SSDs will use SMART to keep track of how close they are to failure, and when they cross a threshold that indicates failure is imminent, they will lock down and enter a read-only state. This means that you can't write anything to them, but it's also a clear sign to the user to get everything off of the drive while it still works. You can tell if your SSD has entered that state if you can't unlock it to write to it.
This will be reassuring to many who think if an SSD fails, it is basically not usable and the data is gone. So, if you've used an SDD for quite a while (a good many years) and it suddenly no longer boots, check on another computer (it's SMART stats should show if it failed). You should be able to clone it to a new SDD drive and carry on working with your data intact.
