Reflecting on the passed year, as one does around this time, i am looking back at a book that does not exist yet.

My original intention was to have finished written this ‘book about Nostr’ months ago. This was mostly due to the fact that the first part about the problems with the status quo and how we got into this mess was so easy to write. On the one hand because this year just kept handing out example after example where the problems lie, be it the Brazil X-ban or the myriad of other occurrences; but on the other hand more importantly because i already had that narrative down years ago. While digging through my hard-drive i found an interview i did in 2019 that was never published, where i laid out all the fundamental problems, and the story is basically the same (video down below, it is in Dutch). This part of the book has been mostly done for many many months now. The issue was describing Nostr itself.

I can’t pin point when I got aware of Nostr, and I mainly build my intuition around the protocol outside of the ‘community’ or use of the protocol itself; partly because I am not a developer nor much of a ‘social media’ user. It is only recently I actually started looking at NIPs due to my work with Nostr Special Forces, and for the longest time I never even read NIP-01. This way of going at it was facilitated by the fact I could just discuss Nostr matters with its creator, to the point where he rather have me stay blissfully unaware of the NIPs out there to keep my thinking uninfluenced by them.

But when it got to describing the Nostr phenomena for the book, I felt it was not enough. I started using the clients, turn NAK into a new best friend and engage with the broader (developer) community. The hardest part is that Nostr is still so actively evolving that describing it in its current state would make the book outdated by the time it comes out. Giving projections as to what it will become has its own problems because it might as well turn out to be completely wrong. It forces me to gain enough confidence in my perspective. Having enough confidence is one thing, but that still leaves me in finding the words to shape an accessible narrative in describing a new paradigm. This is ultimately the point of the book and I figured the only way through that problem is iteration.

I am passed the point of diminishing returns on my narrative iterations, so the only thing that is left to do is put is down on paper definitively. So there you have it, my new years resolution. Basically the same one I had last year, but it is what it is.

Just a note, as its too hard to keep track of the changes, maybe make it more philosophical or inspirational so will be valuable 10 years from now even if the tech changes!

You haven’t lost much! Hours of drive, staying in cold, putting all the heavy clothes, paying 3x for everything, all just for a few rides downhill. Jungle, fresh fruit, surfing, sun! everyday -> Bro, you won at life!

Good note. I have been thinking about it for a while but still haven’t figured it out. Not an easy task for city people. 8h work on computer, then possibly a side project, you are left with very little time if you cook your meals, read books or walk outside. So who will need for your physical labour of 1-2hrs a day? Inefficient. But not impossible. Will let you know if my plan works out!

I am talking about bluetooth headphones in general, they are so close to the brain it will not be surprise to me that one day “scientists” suddenly discover they cause brain cancer. “Simply”, but how to pay the epectricity/water/waste bills? They accept only fiat, same with food producers. Can you generate everything on your own and avoid taxes (even for “your own” land)?

I will tell you more, the very same dentist told me I have to fix one tooth, ideally not even postpone it, but strangely not on that same visit though when I was already sitting there and paid. After that I went to orthodontist (because I scratch my teeth too much during coding), and that one suddenly wanted to put invisalign braces on my teeth. When I said the dentist few days ago told me to fix my tooth first, she replied there is nothing to treat and that dentists are often lying or exaggerating. That was shock to me. I said: if you admit they lie then how do I know you are honest? I didn’t put the braces.

Bro, this is the world we live in. We must fix not only the money and socials, but we need trustworthy services in all domains. Basically a parallel world were people don’t lie not because of cryptographic system which verifies something, but because they fear of God, otherwise any moral standards are subjective (oh someone is in debt and has to feed the family so they will lie to sell sth)

Simple, sharable steps to adopt a Proper Human Diet

1. Eliminate anything containing added sugar from your diet.

This sugar provides no benefit to your body and leads to high blood sugar, high insulin levels & chronic inflammation. This includes fruit juices which in many cases contain more sugar than a Coke.

2. Eliminate all grains & legumes from your diet. Wheat, rice, oats, corn, soybeans, etc. These have very little in the way of meaningful nutrition and contain 2 things to avoid; i. starch-long chains of sugar that break down into sugar in your body & ii. gluten-like inflammatory proteins that lead to chronic inflammation.

3. Eliminate seed oils from your diet. Canola, soybean, corn, peanut, sunflower, safflower, etc. These oils are new to the human diet and contain too much Omega-6 fatty acids that research has shown to lead to chronic inflammation in some people.

*** These 1st 3 steps will remove 100% of ultra-processed food from your diet and will give immediate results (in weeks) for 80% of people.

4. Make sure each meal contains meat, seafood or eggs. These foods were eaten by your ancestors for millions of years and are very nutrient-dense. How about the mediterranean diet? In the places of the best longevity they claim they eat meat meal only on Sundays. Not sure how many fish or seafood, but its rather expensive for the south so assume they must be eating a lot of grains with vegies. Are the sunshine and strong family ties the factors that beat the diet?
