tu ne cede malis, sed contra audentior ito Better a warrior in a garden, than a gardener in a war. Stay humble and study #Bitcoin.

Walked 2 minutes down the street with 3 Amazon parcels in my arms, got asked by 2 different people if I had their delivery. 🤣

The legal system is a piece of shit in most countries.

No one is supposed to ignore the law, yet even lawyers are forced to team up and have different specialities, backed by an army of clerks, because its already too complicated to understand for any single individual.

In the end it means that in court, the winner is determined by who has the most time/money to find the best loopholes.

This need to be reformed ASAP and all laws should fit in one small book that even children could understand.

🚨NostReports Sunday Oped Special🚨

Many new Nostrich hatchlings know the feeling. You open up whatever client you hear about (astral.ninja, snort.social, nostrgram, etc), you figure out that you have to hit the “Generate Key” button, you somehow save your private keys in a way that would make Satoshi cry, and you stare at a constantly updating global feed from a bunch of usernames you have never heard of. Now what?? That was me, the week before Christmas 2022, what the hell do I do now? That’s when I noticed a guy named @ npub1tvqc82mv8cezhax5r34n4muc2c4pgjz8kaye2smj032nngg52clq0rkrq4 on the global feed who kept using the hashtag #plebchain.

Now, we all bring some Twitter baggage with us to Nostr, and for me, that baggage was not feeling good enough to follow people randomly. Why should I? I’m a nobody, and it’s not like they will ever follow me back. But this was a new platform and a new paradigm, so I put that behind me and I followed Quiet Warrior. To my surprise, he responded to me in the simplest of words - “Followed. #plebchain.” Quiet Warrior FOLLOWED ME BACK! Why would he do that? I have Chungus in my name? Pleb after pleb, I started seeing “Followed. #plebchain.” Over and over again. It was magic.

In one of Quiet Warrior’s first posts, he explained that #plebchain was about the concept of value for value, you follow me, I follow you, and let’s do it before all the big accounts and bots get here. Little did we all know that this simple concept would blossom into a movement.

I reached out to Quiet Warrior to get his take on how this has grown, and here is what he said:

“I was really one of the forgotten plebs on twitter. Our first week on Nostr was like a birds first flight, absolutely liberating. I have never talked to so many like-minded, beautiful people. There is tremendous power in the community. I wanted to secure that. Hence #Plebchain. As it progressed my mind continued absorbing the power that the chain really can provide. Satoshi writes about a peer-to-peer network. What are the peers? Plebchain. In essence the Bitcoin network is built on the plebchain layer 0.”

“I also wanted anyone coming in fresh to Nostr to have a simple way to connect and secure the same experience I was having. Follow for Follow is powerful because when you gain followers you gain a voice. The algos kill our voice.”

As I think about Quiet Warrior’s words, I can’t help think about what #plebchain means to me. It is all about breaking the top down communication network of Twitter, where massive influencers tell you how to think. The plebchain is a hive mind for good ideas to propagate.

Why does Nostr and this plebchain concept resonate so well with Bitcoin? As Robert Breedlove says in his “What is Money” podcast – “In a central bank economy, if prices go up, you don’t know if it’s Jerome Powell’s monetary policy, or real people, expending real resources, to obtain a real asset that cause the price increase. #Bitcoin disentangles signal from noise.”

In a centrally controlled communications protocol, if a message propagates, you don’t know if it’s the twitter algorithm, or its real people, expending real attention, to express a real fact. #Nostr, and specifically the #plebchain, secured with #lightning, disentangles signal from noise.

That is what #plebchain means to me. What does the #plebchain mean to you my fellow plebs?

Welcome Saif ! Having you here is one more reason to ditch Twitter.

#[0] mentions are a bit broken on iPad. 😅

Oh yes please.

I wish more people would create content on nostr, so I could just delete my Twitter account.

The intern in charge of AppStore submission just overslept and filled in the April Fools a bit late, that’s all.

Happy you took care of it by yourself.

Doesn’t mean it applies to everyone.

Kicking everyone’s ass is all well and nice if you have the phyiscal means to do it, and if no one decides to escalate and bring something extra for revenge.

If we follow your logic and all kids would want to be bullies, you’d soon have plenty of teethless children, or worse.

I firmly believe all kids (boys, and especially girls) should be taught how to defend themselves, but I also believe kids should learn to respect and look out for eachother.

The two usually go hand in hand, and will lead to better outcomes over time for everyone.

I don’t see how being bullied, or being a bully, would help any child achieve anything useful. On the contrary it has proven to be very damaging, often over the course of their lives.

Are you implying there’s something wrong with shy kids, to begin with ?

Maybe Satoshi bailed out the banks by increasing the supply too ? 🤔

It’s a casino so either go all-in at any price you like, or just DCA if you’re undecided. 🤷‍♂️

I’m sure they must exist somewhere…

If not, maybe the future of good “insurance companies” is something like crowdhealth where there’s a social part intertwined with the financial part of the contract.

Anyway, this doesn’t change the fact that all risks have a probability and that getting an insurance fairly priced for such probabilities is something achievable.

Insurance companies fails when human greed/incompetence takes over and risk isn’t hedged properly… but this is exactly what happens to every company in every field.

Agreed when the insurance is free.

Disagree when you have to pay for an insurance.

A good insurance company should be capable to offer a rate high enough to disincentive bad behavior, and low enough to be financially viable as an hedge vs ruin caused by edge cases.

85% of people cannot think for themselves or are capable of creative thinking.

As long as the party line is : “Trust us, you’re deposits are safe, FDIC insurance.” They’ll repeat it over and over again.

They’re like the proverbial frog in the cooking pot: Slowly boiled over time via inflation and completely oblivious to it, and to the fact that there is no lid on the pot yet.

Soon the lid will be called CBDC and they’ll then use that as an excuse to not opt out of fiat.

They’re not bad nor evil, they’re the same people who’ll adopt a BTC standard when it becomes “The current thing.”, so it’s up to us to increase adoption fast.

Don't celebrate because the fiat price goes up, for all we know it's just short term speculation.

People withdrawing fiat from bank A and moving it bank B doesn't fix anything.

People selling bank stocks to buy tech stocks doesn't fix anything.

Keep pushing for adoption and usage of Bitcoin, as it's only when enough people trade their fiat and their bank stocks for self-custodial Bitcoin that things will have a chance to be fixed. 🙏
