No, but relays where statists are banned or discovery mechanism for non-statists I would appreciate. Or maybe badge-rating mechanism.

You can't ban people, that's not how Nostr works. Mastodon works that way though, through the power of network effect of the servers, it was (last time I checked) very socialist-leaning. Thankfully something like that is not possible on Nostr - your identity is not tied to any particular relay, so if someone bans a relay, your identity can be (and usually still is) multi-relay.

unpopular opinion - most apps are cool when there are fewer people there. mass adoption adds noise.

it was the same with email lists, Usenet, irc, silc, first web based social networks, big social.

I enjoy the moments when Nostr is still small and irrelevant. We can build and enjoy.

I use it. It has its quirks. Can't boost without comment easily. Bunker login often does not work (enter or the button does nothing). Otherwise nice.

Super interesting episode. I'm from Czechoslovakia, I of course knew about Frantisek Fuka back then, but this is a new perspective.

of course, I am promoting nostr:npub1mftv2j67vayavkks8rqev3u8jjhefe86tf80msstfxvpunk9vmps6prkl3 heavily and there are other good platforms as well. But that does not remove the problem completely. Say you sold something illegal and dangerous, like unpasteurized milk. The counterparty of the sale was selling heroin. The cops caught him and they want to trace the coins. He does not know your name, but tells them where you met. You wore a mask, right? unfortunately the CCTV recording leads them to your car which you entered after the trade.

It's overblown story, but I'm saying this - don't be fooled that if you don't show your ID, you have privacy. Real privacy is extremely hard. Were you carrying a phone in your pocket? Did you take Uber? Bought a coffee around a corner and paid with card?

Right now this is hard and you have to be a target, but this is getting automated and soon it will be all automatic.

People get easily fooled by AI models showing empathy and emotion. They are trained to react like humans who can feel these emotions and have empathy.

Learning to deal with this and recognizing it from the real thing actually teaches us to deal with psychopaths. They also don't have empathy but many of them have mastered pretending they do.

Wow.

I can't make it but I'm very interested how is Bitcoin in Thailand. Acceptance, community, ... Seems the are quite a few nostriches from Thailand here.

Maybe we should make a documentary. This might be interesting.

I think he understands that. He was just saying that this is a Bitcoin conference, which should reflect Bitcoin values and ideas. And that is not "regulate us harder daddy, we want NgU".

Bitcoin is inherently anti-hierarchy and anti-central banking and that is clear since the beginning.

Of course politicians want to collect points and not everyone who uses Bitcoin will agree. We can't stop them and don't want to stop them.

But we don't also need to listen to them at a Bitcoin conference, let them talk about it at some statist cocktail party or wherever these people meet.

Sme z rovnakého mesta, same same but different :)

Two Nostr-related microprojects:

https://github.com/jooray/anonmicroblog

Anonymous microblog service with shared password-derived nsec. There's a front-end for posting, for viewing (but you can also use npub.pro or oracolo) and a tool to derive the key from password (for initial profile setup).

https://github.com/jooray/nostr-scripts

Scripts for slow posting to relays in order to not overwhelm them and command-line based backup.

Thank you. I need something to run from cron, so I wrote it:

https://github.com/jooray/nostr-scripts

But nostrsync is epic, I am just trying it out, for wide distribution of notes it is much better.

Cool, thank you, I use nostr-rs-relay, so this is not for me, but good to know and I read about how it does it and it looks pretty cool.

Since I am running my own relay, I want to back up my notes to it. Is there a command line tool that I can run from Cron, I give it an npub, source and destination relay and it would synchronize all posts from one to the other?

True to some extent, but nuance will change the picture to some extent:

- you can't scale the production continuously in industry. You can allow other productive use by building a power plant. Bitcoin is the buyer of first resort in this case, allowing other production that would not otherwise happen.

- combined with energy futures, it's the best regulator, allowing the energy to be cheaper. Overproduce base load that will be consumed by miners, but incentivize them with futures to turn off the machines. It's cheaper than producing expensive peak load. This lowers the prices for productive use.

Energy is complicated.
