I don’t trust Cloudflare generally so I don’t allow them in my network. I don’t worry about censorship because I have a workaround if my provider does that. I am worried about having funds rugged. So my “custodial” risk as you call it, I feel anyway, is pretty mitigated.

I have a script that can set up another instance on Debian in around 10 minutes. I can set up another region or another provider or even at home should I need very quickly.
I do this for a couple reasons but the ability to move jurisdictions quickly is prime.
My node is hosted on home hardware but publicly exposed through a web server on a VPS. So it looks like it’s in the cloud but it is not.
Once you’ve been through a cycle or two you start getting an intuition for it. Basically when people are euphoric it’s a signal for me to sell some. When people are talking about “crashes” and “see you next cycle” it’s a good time to buy.
