Awesome! Thanks!
Jack's call to arms when Elon bought Twitter.
Paywalls on all media organization websites.
The fact that Facebook's algorithm has gone rogue and is just deleting any comment and post at random.
Memories of UseNet and wishing to go back to the good days.
A realization of just how much I HATE the advertising model that is dragging our entire global culture into the abyss.
The fact that Nostr is a global flat playing field where nobody stands above anyone else.
The ability to show appreciation and respect through more than just likes.
The integration with Bitcoin down to the smallest unit.
The reality that only I should be able to control what I see, who I interact with and what I decide to post.
The accountability, where any and all posts must be deeply considered before posting because there is no reversal.
shall I go on?
Good!
We’ve run a paid relay for 18 months. We’ve disseminated zero spam.
If everyone paid for relays like https://relay.nostr.com.au then none of us would experience spam.
Paid relays are the solution - not the problem.
Free relays are the problem. Running a free relay with next to no spam mitigation should be considered an attack an Nostr.
Doing so as a client dev who refuses to provide any tools to mitigate spam - you you’re just a bad actor at that point.
Yes, if everyone paid for relays like yours, then spam would certainly not be a problem.
But that's not going to happen. That's an ideal world thing, and we live in the real world.
The minute that relays start charging users, many people will just stop using that relay. And a dev will launch a new piece of software that will bring up a new relay on a smartphone, and it will get a million downloads. (Please...)
What is keeping people from joining is the fact that all of their friends are still with them in the corporate algorithm advertising cage. We need to just keep talking about Nostr and making it a place that people want to be. The rest of it will be history.
We're not gonna say it. NO, we're not gonna say it. we're not gonna say it, anymore....
Toys, with Robin Williams.
honestly, anything with Robin.
The last day of summer.

Tell her it's the easiest way to send tiny amounts of money to grandkids.
With Nostr and Bitcoin, we no longer need organizations like this to collect capital and then distribute it. We do not need middle men. We need connectors. If someone is living in the areas of Palestine, the images they share and the stories they tell will confirm that. And the entire community is here watching and ready to identify scams and falsehoods.
The only thing that Geyser Fund needs to do is help identify the people and the profiles that need the help. Let the community do the rest.
That's because it's WORKING today! Last time I clicked on the link it wouldn't actually play.
This time, ROCK THE CAZBAR!
Fear is not screaming "do not", it's asking "are you sure". If you are sure, leap!
The more news like this I see, the more I can zap to pay for it!
It's not the number of sats to me, it's whether we are bending the curve towards hard money or just speculating.
I put in $5 per day, and $100 per paycheck. Have for years, up down and sideways. I will have enough when I need it, but I'm not going to stop buying.
I have trouble believing that civilization destroying levels of evil are deliberate choices. It's just a matter of people who can see the forest for the trees that keep charging ahead in total darkness without heeding or understanding the consequences of their actions.
The issue is that we've literally seen this movie before. Many times. We need people in office who are tired of watching it.
I don't think I would. Because there are too many steps between government action and a loss of purchasing power. You only get a clear image if you zoom out and look at the entire system. Most people can't really do that, and we can't pinpoint any one decision or legislation or bill or signature as "the" cause.
Of course, now that we DO have a clear image of the entire system, the answer is obvious. The challenge is to get anyone (ANY ONE) in government to realize it and do something concrete to fix it.
I honestly wonder if we would have as clear of a picture of what Inflation actually is and what it actually does without Bitcoin to give us an alternative. Because Gold just wasn't doing the job.
