man, installing and running portmaster is a real eye-opener...
my efforts to conserve electricity and water yielded extraordinary results.
in 6 weeks the electric and water bill is 4 days of food.
halloween gonna be extra crazy today. full moon and all.
i'm gonna stay right here and anyone who knocks on my door is gonna regret it.
can anyone explain to me where all these nostriches are getting the money to spend their time in one of the most expensive cities in the world?
when i heard it was nostrasia, tokyo is the last place i expected it to be in.
seriously, WHO IS PAYING FOR THIS?
https://codeberg.org/librewolf/source
i was using the arch build, but seriously... it wipes out the build cache every time it starts.
so i'm doing it manually so at least if i get stuck or have to stop it, it won't repeat work, costing me time and energy (electricity) to redo it.
it's amazing that in these times of endless energy inflation, how little software developers seem to care about users time or energy, and most especially, technical users.
they live in this insulated little bubble world, shielded from the reality they are helping cause, and when we outside that bubble try to do things, we watch our computers constantly wasting our time, incuring energy expenditure we can't afford, because these pricks who get it all nice and cushy have no notion of efficiency, even though supposedly we are all supposed to be saving energy to save the planet.
i'm pissed off because i don't have any resources to spare, except for my time and my brain. every bit these pricks cost me is another little tally in the list of the charges i am holding up against them when the case comes to the hearing.
and it will come to the hearing.
you can't make me live by one set of rules and live by another, and live off the backs of the innocent and not get a due punishment.
when i realised that i wanted to believe in the Judgement, it was because of these cunts who have thought they get away with and will get away with this crime forever.
nuh uh.
the universe makes all the negatives return back to zero, just as the positives are returned back to all.
not only that, it was so gratifying to read the Book of Enoch in which it literally explicitly says that on judgement day, we who bore the weight of these scum in our lives and refused to join the thievery fest will get to be part of the execution.
i will enjoy presiding over some terminations, and watching others up close.
it is not sinful to wish harm upon those who harm. it is only sinful to make judgement outside of the proper occasion.
i can state all the accusations that i see perfectly fine there is no wrong in this.
it is wrong to not speak out and point out the criminality going on all day long without at least calling it out.
we live in a society that has been almost completely overtaken by evil.
it must come to justice eventually, and not another fake 'revolution' where another bunch of evil pigs who were only in second place before get to play first place pigs.
all pigs will be burned.
librewolf finally finished building:
97:39.61 We know it took a while, but your build finally finished successfully!
it may have gone a bit faster if i had already disabled tracker3 on my system.
i'd been noticing that my system seemed slugging for a while now and it just didn't occur to me that FUCKING TRACKER was running in the background.
this is what we do at mleku HQ when we discover this spy indexing program running:
locate tracker|grep ^\/usr\/lib|xargs -n1 sudo chmod -x
https://stackoverflow.com/questions/72827703/how-to-disable-file-indexing-in-ubuntu-22-04-tracker3
tracker is gnome's contribution to the NSA's data gathering efforts, i'm pretty sure.
i am also pretty sure that this database has contributed at least 10-20% to my power and internet access costs over the years, in addition to reducing the performance of my computers by 30%.
if i could add one thing to the linux distribution circus, it would be a linux distro with none of the telemetry or data indexing systems enabled.
i'm quite certain that CISA et al are taking advantage of these indexes to speed up their "threat assessment" after they flag you on social media.
i'm also quite sure that it is possible to keep these criminals out of your pc but it takes a lot of effort, because one of the biggest projects of the NSA is keeping backdoors in everything.
i read through that page and searched the dconf entries.
the defaults are so aggressive, literally everything, maximum speed, almost nothing is left out.
it affected me so badly because it was always trawling my entire GOPATH and GOROOT directories and indexing this shit pointlessly.
all of the stuff related to it has now had its execute permission removed, all the dconf settings are set to max, and i'm going to get pacman to not update it, and after that's done, i'm making another snapshot of my system so i never have to go back to this bullshit again.
holy shit this shit has literally taxed my computer's capabilities like the australian government.
windows isn't even this bad.

and btw, i still was waiting for it to finish over 100 minutes later, got cranky, stopped it, and then restart, and oh, it completely wipes out all the build folder and will start again.
i'm not gonna be especially excited about waiting for it this time, half my morning is already wasted on this shit.

even better is when you arrive at dublin airport and your protonmail is blocked and you have to install protonvpn to get to it, after having some privileged little hitler customs officer who everyone else in his office hates try to start a fight with you while you are half asleep after a flight from sofia, over the fact that you didn't prebook accommodation before you left, and didn't let the fascists know ahead of time where you were gonna stay.
i've made a promise to myself that i don't fly anywhere anymore. i'll take a boat to africa or south america and stay on the ground, easiest way to avoid bullshit these days. or better still, i'll just stay here on madeira, we have fast fibre here anyway. you come here, i not go there, bugger off.
airports are maximum fiat.

[Intro]
Yow!
Oh
[Verse 1]
So, it's Halloween
And you feel like dancin'
And you feel like shinin'
And you feel like letting loose
But what ya gonna be?
Babe, you better know
And you better plan
Better plan all day
[Chorus]
Better plan all week
Better plan all month
Better plan all year
[Verse 2]
You're dressed up like a clown
Putting on your act
It's the only time all year
You'll ever admit that
[Chorus]
I can see your eyes
I can see your brain
Baby, nothing's changed
I can see your eyes
I can see your brain
Baby, nothing's changed
You might also like

Dead Kennedys
[Bridge]
Because you're hiding in a mask
You take your fun seriously
No, don't blow this year's chance
Tomorrow, your mold goes back on
After Halloween
After Halloween
[Refrain]
Whee!
[Verse 4]
You go to work today
You'll go to work tomorrow
Shitfaced tonight
You'll brag about it for months:
[Chorus]
"Remember what I did?
Remember what I was
Back on Halloween?"
[Verse 5]
But what's in-between?
Where are your ideas?
You sit around and dream
For next Halloween
[Chorus]
Why not every day?
Are you so afraid?
What will people say?
Why not every day?
Are you so afraid?
What will people say
After Halloween?
After Halloween?
After Halloween?
[Outro]
Because your role is planned for you
There's nothing you can do
But stop and think it through
But what will the boss say to you?
And what will your girlfriend say to you?
And the people out on the street
They might glare at you
And what do you know?
You're pretty self-conscious, too
So, you run back and stuff yourselves
In rigid business costumes
Only at night to score
Is your leather uniform exhumed
Why don't you take your social regulations
Shove 'em up your ass?
Why don't you take your social regulations
Shove 'em up your ass?
Why don't you take your social regulations
And shove 'em up your ass?
so, anyway, fuck firefox and DRM. currently building librewolf and regardless of whether the keepassxc extension works or not, i can always c&p from keepass and keep my ass.
the namestr project will have a full self-deployment done today, you will be able to run it with an IP address and password in addition to the other necessaries and it will automatically set up on your VPS. after the password login method is done, i will also add one that supports root/key login.
i could add more features, but i think this will be enough for now.
the deployment is going to install go and build itself on the VPS btw. i have the idea that later on i can use this as a base, or you can use a VPS set up by namestr to deploy other things, like a personal relay/cache, your own wireguard VPN, and other cool things like this. i already use my VPS as both NIP-05 ID and wireguard vpn, the wireguard setup is really simple, and it wouldn't take much to write a deployment for it.
and more generally, maybe a tool to make it possible for anyone to install Go and have all these things run only from source code.
go is far more sleek and efficient than any other language system. only 120mb for the installation, and mere seconds to build most things.
if someone ever built a fully functional web browser in Go (there is a large number of the pieces, just nobody has put it all together yet), it would probably be done in under a minute from source.
meanwhile it's now up to about 40 minutes and counting to get librewolf built.

normally you need at least 2 hours.
your body is full of adrenalin, no way you are sleeping.
The fact that Elon Musk's title is "Technoking" and Jack Dorsey's title is "Block Head", speaks volumes.
One is about ego, and one is not. But more importantly we can see the difference in their actions more than titles from there.
Elon wants to build Twitter or the shitty name "X" into the next WeChat, with himself as the leader. He has literally said this. I used to be able to report bots on Twitter easily for many years, but now I have to show a drivers' ID to report someone that copies my persona even as a 600k following paid blue check, and so I don't bother anymore, and therefore bots proliferate. And if you don't pay for reach, you get devalued. Only in the past few months have I had to show my ID to report my countless bot copiers if I want to report them on Twitter/X. And so their rate of removal has decreased. If my Nym differs a bit from my name, well LET'S FILE SOME TPS REPORTS!!!! (which wasn't previously the case). And so as bots proliferate, and as Musk fails to contain bots as he promised he would and bragged about with memes, he will instead reference his own self-created bot problem as a reason to require even more ID requirements and try to build his US version of the Chinese Communist Party WeChat app. This is exactly what governments do. In my professional opinion, after careful consideration, Elon Musk can ::check notes:: politely go fuck himself, and those who worship him should reconsider what exactly they show blind obedience toward.
Meanwhile, nostr:npub1sg6plzptd64u62a878hep2kev88swjh3tw00gjsfl8f237lmu63q0uf63m helps improve the Bitcoin network and the Nostr network and has put capital into them in various ways, and Bitcoin and Nostr have no leader. The fact that Bitcoin and Nostr have no leader, is specifically why Jack puts time and capital into them. He funds many different companies, and for bitcoin, Cash App has been among the networks to incorporate Lightning early. Yes, Cash App deals with domestic compliance issues. But they are trying, and they are early. Their network can connect to many others, like an email provider using SMTP to connect to many others. They're open, they're trying. And now they are making Bitkey, which helps with self custody. They're certainly not a directional enemy of freedom in the way that Twitter/X has been.
Companies that incorporate open networks with various levels of compliance trump companies that purposely don't adopt open networks and instead push new ID requirements, in my book.
+10 Jack
-10 Elon
Any day of the week.
elon musk just wants to be the emperor. he's not the worst out there, the worst are hidden, and pull his strings, but he's going to hell. just like all the rest of the people who look the other way to get their crumbs from the banquet table.
they tried to purge the Book of Enoch from the "bible", ie roman catholic compilation.
it lays out the globalist agenda pretty clearly, and what's going to be done to them.
Then you have to make sure you donβt lose any of them. Which brings us back to the same problem X3
if not you, then who?
seems like the one who has the risk should match that with their efforts at security. you can't expect angels to back it up in their little enclave in the heavens.
then isn't that one, banana something, the mobile version of zap, already done this?
βMany people are saying LSPs are a massive centralisation risk in the long run. Do you agree with that? ~Marty Bent
βYes, it kind of is,..., there are valid centralisation concerns. But if we dont build it, no one is going to use lightning because the lightning user experience sucks ass.β~Matt Corralo

in the CAP theorem, every design has a weak letter.
Bitcoin is weak with C, consistency, ie, sidechains and reorgs. after 6 blocks this becomes trivial, and this is something only one PoW chain can achieve, all small chains can't build this level of momentum. Partitioning, there is the 51% attack, but that is secondary weakness because the as the network grows the percentage each new node adds is diluted progressively, and the cost of a 51% attack accelerates as the network gets larger, and more hash power comes online.
Lightning is weak with A, availability, because it depends on all nodes in a path being both online and responsive (and honest) to execute a payment.
this weakness with availability also makes it hard for the endpoints, sending is no problem, but receiving requires coordination with the sender.
this is also why the convention has been the issuance of hint-containing, route containing invoices, rather than the use of keysends, and even still... it's so delicate because of the liveness requirement and the geometric escalation of payment failure risk with the increase in network size.
but the theoretical weakness is probably overstated, same for LN as for bitcoin, because they are the first and biggest of their kind. protecting this consistency, and availability, respectively, are to the advantage of all players so the weakness in the protocol is mitigated greatly.
