oh boy here we go again :ablobwhee:
it seems like the mastodon frontend is hiding the external url for posts behind an internal one that redirects to the external one. am I mistaken?

nostr:npub1kdyzl44h6mhyl4djtf20w0t7avsy09umshq2k2czjf62ps774phqcd2hnf nostr:npub16sz45sngz7k7ha48c9gekuaxc6gntujtynsfukdx6807m6lv7z5sgw378f well shadows should generally move quickly at first and slow down as they disappear since the distance from the object casting the shadow to the point on the surface at the edge of the shadow will generally decrease. it seemed like the line sped up towards the end so unless you repeatedly tweaked the speed ...

sorry for the lack of actual solutions 3D is such a PITA to debug
nostr:npub1kdyzl44h6mhyl4djtf20w0t7avsy09umshq2k2czjf62ps774phqcd2hnf nostr:npub16sz45sngz7k7ha48c9gekuaxc6gntujtynsfukdx6807m6lv7z5sgw378f btw did the sun change speed in the middle of the video there? but regardless it seems like the shadows accelerate over time instead of slowing down so I'm wondering what you actually projected there
nostr:npub1u83gudwdfwjngz5eqxkrnpvsuydvqwjxwz0majvehqrh62804hfq8yr2s5 nostr:npub16sz45sngz7k7ha48c9gekuaxc6gntujtynsfukdx6807m6lv7z5sgw378f this is probably the most painful thing I've done on this project since land generation. It's like pulling teeth

nostr:npub16sz45sngz7k7ha48c9gekuaxc6gntujtynsfukdx6807m6lv7z5sgw378f got renderdoc working on my new distro and it looks like the shadowmap has a depth of 1 everywhere, which means the sun isn't seeing the landscape, which confuses me because it should be consistently black if that's the case. I'm wondering if it's a precision issue with my projection being so large
nostr:npub1kdyzl44h6mhyl4djtf20w0t7avsy09umshq2k2czjf62ps774phqcd2hnf nostr:npub16sz45sngz7k7ha48c9gekuaxc6gntujtynsfukdx6807m6lv7z5sgw378f I got a good laugh out of the video but also :oof: when 3D stuff goes wrong for me usually the only way I manage to fix it is literally doing the math out by hand step by step, often paired with drawing a diagram (or several). and then verifying the intermediate values at various spots in the code. and it's almost invariably been something really dumb on my part in the end

nostr:npub1cuscsrz6efq99ptktk26x58v4yqy9y46ytp8xw4rjjwq0wlt6znst66789 I agree with the broader point you're trying to make here however
> the right of free speech does of course not mean the right to have it published
I think that's off base. self publishing your own writing is hardly different from speaking your mind on the street corner
when it comes to third parties, free speech the concept is always in tension with other rights that might eat away at it such as when someone else exercises their freedom not to publish what you wrote
someone kicking me out of their home for insisting on saying things that they don't like over dinner is certainly infringing my freedom to speak my mind where and how I please. however in that particular context it doesn't seem to pose a threat to broader society (and conversely, not permitting them to do so probably would pose a threat)
at least in the case of fedi, while defederation might cause you some minor problems instances are generally small enough that it doesn't seem to pose a fundamental threat to your ability to use the network. compare this with twitter or facebook who arguably might be large enough that it could cause you serious problems, particularly where the political process is concerned
similarly, imagine owning a business and having the listing for it banned from google maps. size matters when it comes to these things
