Scaling just fine right now. To be honest, the goal was always to be able to scale /down/, not necessarily up. But latest release has been pushing up to 200mbits/sec while using a single core, so good enough for many of us.

Working on integrating NIP57 (zaps) to my LND instance. LND caps the invoice description at 639 bytes. The zap request note is frequently longer than 639 bytes. Ugh.

AFIK the expensive thing to scale in websockets is having the connection open. Will we see relays that require users to do some authentication to even open the connection?

Or will release always be open and will just reject nodes from unknown users?

There's a lot of rate limiting done already. For #[2] I need to listen for dms and it's always getting booted and needs to reconnect.
