Instapaper is just like Pocket when it started. https://www.instapaper.com/
Who decides what's spam? I only care if a transaction is valid as per the Bitcoin concensus rules, not what it's used for.
#Australia update in the War on Cash:
https://ainsliebullion.com.au/News-Resources/Article/CommBank-Asks-About-Cash-at-Home/ID/7722
Banks being "incentivised" to demand details on home cash holdings, on pain of account freezing.
Ignore the last paragraph about metals, that's the source's self-interest.
AUSTRAC actually keeps a very tight grip on private bullion holdings - see Banking Act 1959 and Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Act 2006. In case govt "needs" your money - open and explicit in Banking Act. This has been progressively extended to cash and cash-equivalents.
This is why EVERYBODY needs to buy p2p / no-KYC and maintain good OPSEC, even if it costs more. #Bitcoin, metals, and now even cash.
Your government is deciding when to break open the piggy-bank. You are the piggy-bank.
No, they don't fear your reaction, and no, they don't care about the long-term implications of deincentivising productivity. They will be playing golf in Florida by then, just like most of our ex-PMs.
#banking #prepping #forfeiture #cash #gold #kyc
Next step, they will request you let them in for an audit of the cash.
Then they will ask for a spare key for your home.

I don't like the way decisions are taken and knowledgeable people get banned, but I strongly disagree with Mechanic's point that "I don't want to route your transactions because they're spam".
There needs to be a default of routing ALL VALID transactions, otherwise how exactly is the network supposed to work?
For my node, I have 0 incentive to route YOUR transactions, monetary or otherwise, I don't care. I only want mine.
If nodes (node operators) think this way, we won't have any propagation in the end, or we'll pay centralized routing nodes instead of everyone supporting it.

But seriously, where is the competition? don't make it easy!
Depending on the use case, Aqua is quite great.
Paying with a card:
- find your wallet and pull out your physical card (similar for digital; however, some payment processors don't allow pasting, lol)
- enter your quite long details in 3 different fields
- 2fa page loading; no it doesn't, close your VPN and try again (or 2fa notification arrived but you are logged out. Please login to the mobile app again)
- refresh, start from scratch
- 2fa page loaded, input the 6-digit code
- success!
Paying with LN:
- open wallet app on the phone
- scan the qr code
- tap pay, done!
Spain might be the first, but similar rules will be applied in all members of the European Union: https://accountancyeurope.eu/publications/navigating-the-eu-anti-money-laundering-regulation/

A npub/pkey - locked ecash, embedded in a BTC transaction's OP_RETURN.
Nice.
But in reality, I think cashu tokens are too big to fit in OP_RETURN, no?
"it just works" happened, combined with app-centric OSes.
Technology now caters to everyone, not just geeks.
It must work, even for grandmas.
Hence, no tinkering is needed, and many times isn't even possible (iOS, for example).
What really stumps me is that people don't know or understand basic filesystem structure.
They don't know about files/folders any more, as is the paradigm on desktop, in contrast with app-centric OSes.
They know apps, with their content. Many don't care to have their files offline, saved on disk, back them up etc. They work with them in the context of an app, and assume the app will always be there with their files, notes, documents, photos.
The goverment's job is the same, whether you like who is in charge or not.
Is it weird to ask for what you believe is right, by the elected party, independent of your politics preferences?
Bitcoin-related business.
Anything that touches fiat, needs to KYC, with jurisdiction-specific details.
Fold provides a spending card, they are required to KYC.
Anyone know of a good cbz/cbr comic reader for android? Preferably with good tablet support
The one I've been using for years now has this crap in it https://cdn.hzrd149.com/2b660022e8e5d08adbb453fbeb9ee05dc53b63e4e893bbb0988722c3a457763f.webp

KOReader, for ebook devices and android, both for ebooks and comics.
Nice, thanks for the info!
Since you like fantasy, you should check out the Kingkiller Chronicle (first book: Name of the wind).
Wait, that's not Peter!
Indeed, something went wrong with the link. I will try to edit (not sure if all clients support that), but here it is anyway. https://www.cs.princeton.edu/~arvindn/publications/mining_CCS.pdf
Thought experiment:
In 2140, mining will solely rely on transaction fees due to zero block subsidy.
This new competition dynamic may result in miners prioritizing valuable blocks over others.
For instance, if whales broadcast high-value (and high-fee) transactions at the same time, other miners might attempt to claim those rewards instead of building upon the existing block.
Why would they compete for 100m sats when they can get 300m sats? The difficulty would be the same for both.
Consequently, this could lead to an increase in short-term chain splits and potential rollbacks for mining the same lucrative transactions.
If short-term chain splits become common and depending on fee volatility, rollbacks might extend beyond one block. In such a scenario, would the traditional "six confirmations" rule still provide a perfect guarantee of transaction finality?
After writing this, I realized there is a paper on the topic: mining_CCS.pdf
