Not everyone is conscientious, is it right to try to help them understand the damage they do to themselves? How would you?

I'd worry less about what is a deal breaker for other people, people are stupid. What do you want, and you really need to think about that in a sober manner, maybe consult your mother. I think long term scaling will be fine, we can have listings for products and services, each relay has its own board, the cost to have your item listed can subsidize the social aspect of the protocol, like businesses at a mall paying for their space and letting customers in for free. Access to DVMs and DLCs that let you create a MySpace esq profile page will also help. Mid term scaling seems like the tricky part, advertising from a company may require kyc, then relays won't be able to accept money from users.

I think the pro arguments would include privacy and scripting related side chains, and a place to test upgrades in bitcoin that carry economic weight in bitcoin. I'm of the opinion we should first really find consensus on covenants, cross input signature aggregation, upgrading tapscript and stuff, and allegedly we really haven't finished exploring what tapscript gives us today so that would be a good start. I worry that drivechains would disincentivize upgrades to bitcoin itself.
