Hard to explain…when I setup Mutiny I was able to connect to my social graph using only my npub, and I was also able to give my lightning address for my Mutiny profile.

What if, it hadn’t been me that setup Mutiny.

That person uses my npub.

They can give a different lightning address.

They will appear on Mutiny as me, to whomever follows me.

Does that mean someone who follows me could send funds to that address on Mutiny’s profile, though it’s not my address?

It will show the correct npub for the person I follow, yes, but someone else could have registered that npub on Mutiny. So whomever I see on Mutiny is whoever registered that npub & it may not be the original npub holder. Is that possible?

If I look for my follows on Mutiny, I can find them, it picks it up from my npub.

However, there’s no guarantee that the person I find on Mutiny is truly the person I know.

Someone else could have registered their npub on Mutiny and added a different lightning address to their Mutiny profile.

So, do I end up zapping someone else?

It seems like a different problem, because when someone clones a profile, we can still tell they’re not real because we don’t follow them, and can check their npub.

However, if we look at the social graph on mutiny, the people we think we follow could be impersonators using our npubs.

Can mutiny be setup so that it reflects the lightning address we have in our profiles? Maybe that would help? Is there anything else that could be done?
