Today we introduce Hivetalk Honey!

https://blossom.primal.net/6ae149af3f0250574739f08d86266946c18dfcde26b99e153eb02f8a6697ce26.mp4

Hivetalk Honey is the new Beta version that we have been building from the ground up. Why? Honey is globally scalable to 1000s of users, with nostr tools to support community organizers and content creators, such as scheduled meetings, notes, rooms, and a calendar view. This Geyser fund aims to help us get off the ground to build this next stage, as Hivetalk Honey is more ambitious than the original vanilla. We invite you to try out Hivetalk Honey while its in development and send us feedback!

Feedback appreciated, please send any bugs to @ButtercupRoberts

not that i'm advocating for custodial solutions but would you open a channel for 21sats nostr:nprofile1qy88wumn8ghj7mn0wvhxcmmv9uq3uamnwvaz7tmwdaehgu3dwp6kytnhv4kxcmmjv3jhytnwv46z7qpqgm7tuvr9atc6u7q3gevjfeyfyvmrlul4y67k7u7hcxztz67ceexshaaywj ? trust is a technology, and tbh in a lot of scenarios it might be much better to risk the 21k sats on a mint or wos than risk your entire node due to vuln in the software you're using (there were issues with lnbits and btcpay in the past which are both popular solutions for lnurl and other functionality on top of nodes)

so yes, of course rugging happens and will happen, but its not a one sided problem, there is a lot of moving parts and not all of them necessarily have the level of scrutiny than one would hope. So using a custodial solution might actually be the most rational decision for small amounts if you've carefully factored in other risks and costs (running your own nodes, deploying liquidity, managing liquidity, managing software updates, infrastructure cost, human labor cost etc)

this is an old defcon rule from way before reasonable life choices were a thing 😉

i've mentioned token based economy (mainly using token instead of compute for shits and giggles) previously but reading this crystalized couple things a bit more:

- capital allocation game will change significantly, instead of giving 100s of startups preseed/seed checks you just buy gpus and allocate compute time to ideas

- anyone with access to cheap power and capital to build infrastructure now will be in a very advantageous position since compute is a lot more reusable than money paid out to developers

- its gonna be interesting to see how much of an edge running a large frontier model vs good enough model than can run on somewhat commodity hardware (lets say $10k budget) will be, I guess small good enough model with lots of unified memory for context could get decently far

- this has the potential to be an extremely centralizing force

- a lot of big bitcoin miners might be underpriced given that they are perfectly set up for this (tho to be fair many are already running hybrid loads)

to be continued..

most people cannot think deeply or clearly enough to even realize they are in this position.

I'm having harder and harder time suffering in the company of fools who don't realize the depth of their delusions. And very few actually want to rethink everything in their life on a regular basis and deprogram themselves from centuries of indoctrination that anything above laws of physics is "just the way things are"

somehow this kept running as a background process in my mind over night and i had to do some digging

there was decent open source car movement in 2010s but most of it seems dead now.

first we need to establish what are we trying to solve - transportation from point a to point b (a functional vehicle) or compliance with state laws and regulations to make a "road certified" car which is likely where a lot of the cost will come from.

EVs are in the lead here due to their simplicity with order of magnitude less parts which means less precision manufacturing etc.

several interesting projects:

i've also done some sleuthing to acquire tabby and rally fighter cad files just in case i live forever and find myself with an empty garage and motivation to build one, in case people want i can upload them somewhere

unpopular opinion:

basement bar is the worst thing that happened to honeybadger conference. instead of great old town places where the magic would happen now everyone goes to the basement bar as the official "afterparty place" which has nowhere near the capacity or ambient to host that many people.

roaming around old town and randomly meeting friends was big part of the charm of the honeybadger and I think that has disappeared.

Most ideas I have I just want to see in the world, I don't need to (and for most don't have time to) actually implement them myself so whiteboard to nostr is better than whiteboard to ideas.md to be lost forever
