He’s been accused of a lot of things. He says he doesn’t. I’ve heard people say they were close friends of his, and they said he would never do that. So, while I can’t say for sure, I think that’s the media making up lies because they don’t like him. I could be wrong. He does speak some powerful truth though.

Anybody else here listen to Andrew Tate? I came across some content of his this week, and it lit a fire under me. Yes, I have heard of him and heard his content before. I’m also not saying I agree with everything he says. But, he got me motivated this week. #grownostr #motivation #andrewtate

We have 15.5 acres. We take care of 2 and rent out 13.5 to a farmer. I would love to do something with the 13.5 acres, but I don’t have the time or equipment to do anything with it. We need to figure out something, though.

We have several fruits planted on our 2 acres. We lost our apple trees last year, and we couldn’t figure out why. We had just planted them the year before, so they were young. We had bought them from the store and they were maybe 5 ft tall. This year, we just lost an elderberry bush and our grapes and raspberries aren’t looking good.

My wife says Japanese beetles may be to blame for the grapes because they’ve been a constant issue. As for the rest, we think the crap that the farmer sprays is drifting over and killing our plants. Maybe we planted too close. I don’t know. This isn’t my field of expertise. I would rather just turn our field into something else that brings in money. We get almost 4k a year from the farmer, and that covers all of our property taxes. #grownostr

Here is a the newsletter that we sent out this morning.

If you want to receive more emails like this, check out our site at these16things.com.

Dealing With Those That Serve Us

Ephesians 4:32 "Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you."

This scenario I'm about to paint may make some of us feel guilty, but that is NOT the point. Ready?

You walk into a coffee shop, and the barista asks in a VERY polite manner, "Good morning, thanks for coming in! What can we get started for you?"

No imagine the words that come out again and again and again from people ALL around us, in coffee shops and restaurants. "Yeah, I want the..." or my next favorite: "Gimme the..."

sigh

This interaction irritates the person who is trying to politely serve you. That irritation boils until it spills over at their house at night and they vent or take it out on family or friends. It makes the customer FEEL important. It makes the customer FEEL in charge. It makes the customer FEEL great. Are those feelings actually true? Even if they were, how is this helping anyone except the customer?

This week, we'd like to encourage you: have a seat at the dinner table with your teen. Walk through this interaction, and ask their thoughts on the phrasing of it all. Ask if they are ok with it, or if they would change something.

Our goal is to change how we interact with others and to show love and compassion. The words, "May I please..." go a LONG way in building relationships in life, and they have a place in this scenario.

Chat with your teen about being grateful to those who serve us, being on an even footing with them and not trying to be above them. Perhaps discuss the sort of employer you would like each day: one who demands, or one who is appreciative and says please/thank you.

Finally, if there is a different interaction (besides a food server) that comes to mind, go for it! The goal is a spirit of love and compassion, of gratitude and servitude. The goal is to remove a spirit of "being above" or having to feel powerful and in charge.

The attached video can really help with your conversation at home! A couple of "wrong/rude" ways to approach those who serve, and then a "right/polite" way.

The biggest takeaway from your conversation with your teen? Interacting with love and compassion, as every single person has value. We ALL have worth, as we are all God's creation.

Have fun with this one!

I love it. Our meat chickens arrive in about 2 weeks. We are raising extra and splitting them/sharing the cost with 2 other families. We have the land. We will raise 75-100 total meat chickens this year. We haven’t had them for a couple years, but we are planning to get 50 layers as soon as we can fix up a barn.

My buddy (Luke) and I were on Dr. Paul’s radio show this last week talking about our website. These16things.com

1st Saturday of spring soccer. We are a homeschool soccer club. 1 of 2 in our small area, and both are overflowing with kids. If we keep growing, we can have our own league for the younger kids instead of playing in other leagues. #grownostr #homeschool #soccer

Preparing to get 7 kids ready to spend the day at the soccer fields tomorrow. Plus, I e have 1 extra kid spending the night.

5 of our kids have 1 game each. My wife coaches 1 kid, and I’m coaching 1 kid. The age group I’m coaching has 3 teams, and I’m coaching all 3 teams. So, we are watching our kids play in and/or coaching 7 games tomorrow. It’s gonna be a long day.

She loves art and crafts and she’s good at it. I’m encouraging her to start a YouTube channel and/or email newsletter around that.

I told my 14 year old that she has 3 options to earn money. Since we live in the country, we don’t want to drive her in town to work. This is in regards to summer work and can be 10-20 hours a week. She can…

1. Work for me (I own my own business)

2. Work at a flower farm a mile down the road

3. Start her own business

What are your thoughts?
