Enthusiast shitposter too lazy to argue I don’t identify as patriot There is only one nation #nostr

I am not sure I understand so apologies if I misinterpreted.

I didn’t find fleas problematic. Nor even seen them. Come to think about it - weird. Maybe something I need to learn.

As for food. Cats do not evolve as they grow. They are born and die obligatory carnivores.

Surely they are also mammals so will drink mother’s milk when very small (only).

The only thing dry food is good for is margin. (of mars, nestle etc)

Cats are desert animals. They would absorb water when eating killed prey. The amount of food would mean certain amount of water intake. Thirst is not a sensation one would actually want (when on a desert).

That’s why cats rarely drink.

Add dry food and kidneys will go pretty soon.

The fact that vets suggest dry food only tells one thing. The margin is so high it can be shared.

Well - maybe also another thing- vets need education too.

I just came back from Morocco.

Lovely people, dozens of even lovelier cats.

I would take them all and gave home (If I could) but I know it won’t change much. The only way to actually make lasting difference is through education.

Hence my question.

One way to keep up with what is happening is to watch the news. But governments control their populations this way, so while you will hear about many things, you will not hear about others, and you will be given politically-correct programming.

Ground news tries to show you which news sources are left and right, and fill in your blind spots.

Alternative news gives you stories you don't see elsewhere: greyzone, revolver, people on substack, youtube and rumble videos, etc.

But people lie and exaggerate for many reasons. They may say something is true because they wish it was so ("Ukraine is winning" or "Russia is stronger now"). They may express certainty for multiple propositions, when in reality they are far less certain about one of them.

You could have a show where people are required to not just express their views, but also give a confidence level. But they still would lie and exaggerate.

You could make them put money on the table. Then they will be less prone to lying and exaggeration.

Betting markets do this already. What is true, what confidence level do you have, and also people must put skin in the game. But they are more about events that have not transpired yet. But hell... those are even more interesting than what already happened.

It would be awesome if there were betting markets about past events, including recent newsworthy ones. If that existed I would read that to get my news. The obvious problem here is adjudicating and settling the bets. Maybe the winner is whatever the majority believes 3 years hence. People who bet COVID came from a lab would be paid out already. People who bet against Russiagate too.

My recipe almost works

Don’t watch the news

Except I wouldn’t know now if the war broke off on my streets unless I read it on #nostr

I know some people in my #nostr network are educator in health, food, privacy, and Bitcoin. You share information people could directly benefit from - would they care to listen. Yet they quite often don’t care. How do you deal with that? What keeps you going?

I would like to start educating (and learn) about #cat wellfare.

Something people don’t directly benefit from.

When I travel, I pay attention to how people treat cats. What I see is shocking. There are kind people who want to help homeless cats, but they don't know how. They've been misled by incorrect ideas and heartless advertising. It is going to take decades to unwind but we need to start.

So.

How do I start? How do I keep going?

Would you even agree with the below statements?

- Spaying or neutering cats helps control the population, reduces hunger and fighting, and protects other animals from harm.

- Feeding cats only dry food can be as bad for them as not feeding them at all. It can lead to kidney failure in just 3-6 years.

- Leftover dinner is not a healthy meal for them. Cats are not like dogs; they need to eat raw, balanced meat to stay healthy

If there are 100k nodes guarding consensus, then you need merely another 50k nodes and coerce/incentivise another 25k to switch to a new code.

That doesn’t sound that expensive

Thought experiment.

Option # 1

Let’s say you have 10 bitcoin and we hit 2 million in the next few years.

You’re tempted so you sell it for 20 million dollars.

After taxes you’re be left with 16MM.

Which you use to comfortably generate 1.2MM a year in the tradfi markets.

So you take the money and retire.

Bitcoin crashes 60% back to 800k.

For a few years you feel like a genius. You enjoy your new rich person lifestyle.

You even buy back a few bitcoin. 2 to be exact. 20% of what you used to have.

Then bitcoin rises over the next decade to be worth 50 million per coin.

You’re worth 120 million now. And you decide to sell a little over half a coin and upgrade your lifestyle again to be able to generate an additional 2 million a year.

You’re now on paper worth 120 million, you generate 3.2 million a year (266k a month) and you’ve been largely stress free for the last decade.

Your kids will inherit roughly 1.62 bitcoin from you upon your death.

You have some level of regret about not hodling through, but you’ve been largely stress free and the mental health benefit was worth it in your mind.

Vs.

Option # 2

You have the same 10 bitcoin but you Hodl them.

Your stress levels are persistently higher.

You also decide to retire when Bitcoin hits 2 mil, but you decide to do so in bitcoin terms.

Your plan is to sell a little bitcoin as needed in order to fund your lifestyle.

This is roughly 1-3 million sats a month. Depending on bitcoin price.

Over the course of 10 years you end up selling or spending 2.4 bitcoin and are still left worth 7.6btc when bitcoin reaches 50 million.

Your net worth is 380 million.

You’ve reduced your lifestyle in bitcoin terms down to a million sats a month. (500k) or 6 million per year. You’re 46, Assuming you live until you’re 90 you will pass down 2.32 bitcoin to your kids.

You have no regrets about the way you played it, but your stress was consistently higher and there were a few scary months along the way.

Which option do you choose?

1 or 2?

I would love to try in practice. could someone zap me 10btc?

White hair doesn’t make you old, mate

Loss of memory does /s

Lol

Those pills dangerously look like hooks

Lol

Show some love to the girl too.

The coin always has two sides (and an edge)

Nostriches love everyone (except shitcoiners, fiat, any kind of reserve, vegetarians, meat eaters, gun lovers, those who hate guns, lack of privacy, centralised exchanges, ….)

And here I thought I understood bitcoin.

And if I do - the answer is NOT.

A raspberry node doesn’t contribute hashing power to the network and to change the network one needs to either control or convince 51% of the contributing network.

Or - did I miss something?

Somebody please clarify
