You will figure things out as you go along. Don’t make the mistake that you don’t have time. No - you just don’t value it more than the other tings filling up your time

For sure - waiting for the right time just grows the list of things that are waiting for the right time.

Even if it is 1 sat

What is with this shaming? Why would you complain about receiving some sats?

I was curious about the word “fiat”. I looked it up.

What it is: A currency that has value because a government declares it has value 🫠

I knew this already, but what I didn’t know was that the word orignates from Latin (shocker) and has the literal meaning of “to become” or “to be made”.

The word fiat explains perfectly what it is: “Let this be money” 😂

Learned something new today.

Naturally every rule has its exceptions. But telling the truth must be the default.

Oh, you think you’re patient?

Try starting a winery.

Just when you’re amped up to make a massive life change, ready to start the next chapter of your life, when you have all this momentum to do things, the only thing you can do is wait.

From the day I committed my life’s savings to starting Peony Lane to the day I made my first sale was two years.

That frustratingly long stretch of time was a gift I didn’t know I needed.

Before wine, I’d bounced between side projects where I lost steam quickly. I knew I wanted to start a business, and I knew I needed something that forced me to commit. I needed a forcing function that would make me step up into a role I knew I was capable of, but didn't have a reason to take on.

What I didn’t understand was how many sleepless nights, panic attacks, and moments of self-doubt came with it. Facing a real chance of failure head-on forced me to care. It pushed me past my limits and made me confront who I really was. That person wasn’t good enough, but could be.

Those two years of waiting became the foundation for everything that came next. I not only produced good wine on my first try, but also built the house I live in today and discovered Bitcoin.

I get asked how Bitcoin changed me. It didn’t. I changed me, and that change led me to Bitcoin.

I never really want to go through another time like that again, but I’m glad I did. If another one comes, I know I can handle it.

That stretch from 2019 to 2021 was the most important time of my life. It’s when I decided to step up instead of settle.

Proud of myself for that.

Let me know if or when you can ship to 🇿🇦

Yeah I agree. Part of me just want to accumulate more sats 😂 But I found myself thoroughly enjoying asking vendors if they accept BTC and then paying those that do

100% just like a screwdriver or a ladder. Just a tool. Use it and place it back where it’s kept. Don’t thank it. Don’t ask it. Don’t apologise to it. Just use it. It is an it.

Haven’t read this summary yet. Bookmarking it. I am curious why you ask the tech knowledge of the other user🤔

Black. It makes the white logo stand out. And any damage on white is easier seen than on black

Is there a resource with some responses for common questions or arguments people have against BTC?

Like “what if the internet got shut down?” or “what if we dint have any more electricity?”

#asknostr #btc

Yeah +1 on this. The black suits the logo. Makes it stand out more

Ready for 🥩

What got me was when you hear stories of how much your parents could buy compared to today. It got me thinking about how the hours I work is earns me less over time - which means I have to constantly be on the lookout for more ways to earn the ever-depreciating-currency 🙃

The thought just kinda deflates you, you know? It sucks away some of the motivation to work and it makes the future look a bit gloom knowing that the wealth you accumulate will just leak as you get older and less able to work… making retirement seem like a joke.

I am looking for some resources on networking. More specifically setting up a home network. I essentially want to self-host my own data and services/apps.

I am looking at the following:

1. Server OS like cloudron or start9

2. NAS for storing media and files (and apps if that makes sense)

3. Pi-hole to setup my own internal DNS

4. VLANs for my network with all my services and files and a guest VLAN. A third one would be cool to give some limited access (perhaps just access to a service or two)

5. At a later stage I would like to access my network from the internet. I think this is done via a VPN.

I am a technical guy, it is just my level of knowledge on networking is lacking 😅 “Trust CA Root”, “Port Forwarding”, etc. are not familiar concepts to me.

Thanks in advance! #asknostr #networking #selfhosting #sorveinty

Found out that Nostr uses kind 1984 for content reporting 🐰🥚

The more you know! 😂

https://github.com/nostr-protocol/nips/blob/master/56.md

Its not a full client, but needs to be able to observe events for filtered events and be able to send events. Oh and DMs. Your additional explanation helps. I’ve looked into Amber, but will checkout Amethyst as well. Thanks!

When you don’t stop to ask if you should be doing something because you are so focused on being able to do that something 😅
